AML Client Onboarding Consultant

Our client is seeking an experienced AML Client Onboarding Consultant to strengthen operational risk management and compliance controls across their financial crime and regulatory operations functions. This role offers the opportunity to drive enterprise-wide risk mitigation, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver sustainable improvements to critical AML and KYC processes.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Identify operational and compliance risks early, assess control adequacy, and mobilize accountable owners to execute timely risk mitigation
• Lead AML and KYC client onboarding initiatives, including account maintenance, screening, and customer reference data management
• Conduct control assessments, design remediation activities, and coordinate internal audits and regulatory examination responses
• Manage incidents, issues, and action plans; translate complex operational challenges into clear, actionable decisions for senior leadership
• Analyze complex data and produce reporting for senior management; drive automation and technology-enabled improvements to streamline operations
• Lead stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Audit functions
• Challenge senior stakeholders constructively on control frameworks and risk mitigation strategies; escalate issues appropriately
• Lead global and cross-regional teams and programs; develop sustainable outcomes aligned with organizational objectives

Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in operational risk, compliance, financial crime, AML, or related regulatory operations
• Strong expertise in KYC processes, AML screening, controls and audit, and regulatory operations
• Demonstrated experience in control design, control testing, and risk and control frameworks
• Proficiency in data analysis, incident management, and remediation; familiarity with automation and analytics tools
• Proven leadership experience managing global or cross-regional teams and programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and engage senior management stakeholders
• Knowledge of regulatory examination processes and compliance review requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, FRM) preferred
