Stickley is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll & Human Resources Coordinator to join our team in Manlius, NY.
This unique role combines the precision of payroll with the people-focused work of Human Resources. Approximately three days per week focus on payroll and two days on HR, giving you the opportunity to build valuable experience across two critical business functions.
Your work will directly support nearly 500 employees across our manufacturing, retail, and business operations. You will help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the HR processes that help them join, grow, and succeed.
What You'll Do
Payroll - Approximately 3 Days Per Week
Play a key role in accurate, timely, and compliant weekly payroll processing.
- Process and review weekly payroll for nearly 500 employees using UKG Pro.
- Audit timekeeping and attendance records in UKG Workforce Management and resolve discrepancies.
- Review and process pay changes, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, PTO payouts, and other payroll transactions.
- Process employee tax and direct-deposit changes and maintain required documentation.
- Support garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other required deductions.
- Prepare and transmit payroll-related files, including direct deposit, payroll tax, HSA, and 401(k) files.
- Review and reconcile 401(k) contributions, loan payments, and rejected transactions.
- Prepare payroll-related General Ledger entries, reports, and system updates.
- Support quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including payroll tax processing and W-2 preparation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and support compliance with applicable requirements.
Human Resources - Approximately 2 Days Per Week
Provide important day-to-day support to the HR team and help create a positive employee experience.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential employee and HR records.
- Support new hire onboarding, including paperwork, system updates, orientation materials, and follow-up documentation.
- Assist with recruiting activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and hiring documentation.
- Help track employee changes, benefits, leave paperwork, attendance information, and other HR documentation.
- Respond to routine employee questions and connect employees with the appropriate HR resources.
- Assist with compliance activities, training records, policy documentation, and HR projects.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 3 years experience in payroll, human resources, accounting, or administrative support.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy when handling employee pay and confidential information.
- The ability to manage recurring deadlines, prioritize competing responsibilities, and follow through on important details.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when working with sensitive information.
- Strong communication and customer service skills when working with employees, managers, operations, accounting, and outside partners.
- The confidence to identify discrepancies, ask questions, and escalate issues when needed.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Experience with UKG Pro and/or UKG Workforce Management is preferred, but not required.
- A dependable, collaborative approach with the ability to work independently.
