Payroll Specialist

Mitsubishi Chemical America is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Corporate Payroll team. In this role, you'll help ensure employees across multiple businesses are paid accurately and on time while supporting payroll operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do
As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be responsible for processing bi-weekly payrolls while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Beyond payroll processing, you'll play an important role in supporting reporting, audits, employee inquiries, and continuous process improvements.
Responsibilities include:
- Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll using Workday Payroll
- Ensure payroll transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain payroll records and process salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and other employee transactions
- Manage payroll-related deductions, including garnishments and tax administration through ADP SmartCompliance
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, labor reports, 401(k), workers' compensation, and audit reporting
- Create and maintain payroll reports within ADP
- Assist with payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliations, and year-end payroll activities
- Research and resolve payroll questions from employees, managers, and HR partners
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting to support payroll operations and improve processes
- Stay current on payroll regulations and industry best practices
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state environment
- Experience with Workday Payroll
- Experience with ADP SmartCompliance, payroll reporting, and payroll analytics
- Experience processing payroll from start to finish with a high degree of accuracy
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) highly preferred
- Experience using payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
- Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills

The salary range for this position is $72,300 - $90,400.00. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
