Electrical Maintenance Engineer
37.5 hours per week (Days)
£ 43,970.87
DS Smith is looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in keeping our manufacturing operation running safely, reliably and efficiently.
Working 37.5 hours per week, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, electrical fault finding and repairs, while also supporting the wider engineering team with mechanical breakdowns.
What you’ll be doing
- Responding quickly and effectively to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carrying out electrical fault finding, diagnostics and repairs across site machinery and equipment.
- Supporting mechanical maintenance and breakdown activities as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.
- Completing planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities to a high standard.
- Identifying recurring faults and contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Working safely in line with company procedures, risk assessments and relevant legislation.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities through the site’s maintenance management systems.
- Working closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Supporting engineering improvement projects and equipment upgrades where required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and quality within the engineering environment.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced maintenance engineer with a strong electrical background and the ability to work confidently across both electrical and mechanical systems.
You’ll ideally have:
- An electrical engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Proven experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good mechanical maintenance and breakdown knowledge.
- Experience working with industrial machinery and automated equipment.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
- The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
