Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support project, equipment, and operations of a Unit production line focusing on problem solving, continuous improvement, and collaborative teamwork.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Engineering Department objective to implement engineering solutions related to safety, quality, and productivity focus.
What you’ll be doing
Manage model change capital projects, including working with internal and external groups to meet project KPI deadlines.
Provide capital and product support for powertrain projects including leading change point management coordination of internal and external resources for the implementation of projects, new equipment installation, model changes, refurbishment of existing equipment, new tooling technologies and other kaizens.
Perform Problem Solving utilizing Toyota Business Practice (TBP) to troubleshoot process issues, identify root cause and recommend countermeasures via the creation of a strategy document in order to recommend and implement effective countermeasures to resolve issues, implement kaizens to improve efficiency, reduce costs and effectively meet KPI targets for assigned line.
Work in cross-functional groups to ensure production processes are capable of producing quality products, within takt time, while meeting OA targets utilizing thorough root cause analysis, reporting and cooperation with support groups to implement countermeasures.
Ensure successful planning and implementation of production, precision measurement, and testing equipment for new projects.
Understand daily production problems in processes or part quality, quickly perform root cause analysis, and implement countermeasures.
What you bring
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) to coordinate with Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Facilities, NA PE and Outside Vendors in order to ensure all tasks are completed on time per schedule.
Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office products. Using computer skills to analyze data and generate reports to present your activity.
Machine safety circuit knowledge with verification and validation on local equipment in North America.
Project management experience with capability to develop, lead, prioritize work, meet milestones, and report out status of project.
Ability to quickly learn manufacturing processes and adapt to new situations.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods to support projects.
Ability to travel to support NAMC competitiveness.
Added bonus if you have
Previous experience in automotive manufacturing.
Previous experience troubleshooting robotic systems.
