The organization operates across real estate development, including multi-residential mid-rise projects, and technology investments. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a finance professional who is comfortable working across multiple entities and enjoys combining strong financial oversight with strategic business support. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, external advisors, and teams across real estate and investment operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight across multiple entities.
- Coordinate annual audits and maintain compliance with Canadian GAAP, while working with U.S. advisors on cross-border accounting and financial matters.
- Oversee corporate and entity-level tax activities in partnership with external advisors, including compliance requirements and financial scenario planning.
- Manage accounting activities related to real estate development, including project costing, construction draws, and lender reporting.
- Oversee financial reporting, consolidations, and integration activities related to private equity and investment holdings.
- Provide financial guidance on cash flow management, capital planning, financial models, and broader business decisions.
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members while identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with executive leadership and external partners to provide accurate, timely, and actionable financial information.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with previous Controller or CFO-level experience considered an asset.
- CPA designation in Canada required; a Canadian/U.S. dual CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing financial matters across multiple entities, real estate development, investments, or technology businesses.
- Experience with CMHC financing, particularly the Apartment Construction Loan Program (ACLP), would be a strong asset given the organization’s growing development pipeline.
- Exposure to cross-border accounting, taxation, reporting, or financial operations, particularly involving Canada and the U.S., is highly valued.
- Experience working directly or indirectly with investment funds, fund development, fund management, capital raising, or investment structures would also be an asset.
- Strong understanding of real estate development accounting, including project costing, construction draws, lender reporting, and financial modeling.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Advanced experience with ERP/accounting platforms and Microsoft Excel.
- An interest in using AI and emerging technology to improve financial processes, reporting, efficiency, and analytics.
- Currently based in Sarnia, Ontario, or open to relocating to the area.
What’s Offered
- Competitive base salary with opportunities for individual and team performance-based bonuses.
- Potential opportunity for stock options as the organization continues to grow.
- Comprehensive benefits and a retirement savings plan.
- Professional development support, including CPA-related dues and continuing professional development.
The Work Environment

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation along with the ability to contribute to broader financial and strategic decisions. Experience with CMHC/ACLP financing, cross-border operations, or investment and fund-related environments will be particularly valuable.
