Description
Administer general accounting practices, functions and standards of the company, maintain fiscal records and prepare financial reports. Assure through administration of generally approved accounting practices that accounting and other financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the Company and provide management with reliable information necessary to control operations. Direct and have overall responsibility for financial accounting, cost accounting and budget functions.
Principle Accountabilities
· Maintain accurate General Ledger records.
· Maintain detailed support and analyses of all General Ledger accounts.
· Set standards for the conduct of accounting procedures and review compliance with these standards.
· Exercise staff supervision over financial accounting, budgeting and cost accounting.
· Oversee preparation of all financial statements and review all financial reports being responsible for accuracy.
· Responsible for the issuance and accuracy of periodic financial and operating reports.
· Oversee preparation, review and distribution of budget comparison reports.
· Monitor and review fixed asset expenditures and issue status report by period.
· Maintain detailed records of all fixed assets and coordinate with area maintaining deeds, title and legal documents pertaining to ownership.
· Direct the preparation of and analyses of all cost and plant economy analyses as well as other statistical and routine reports.
· Prepares additional analyses as operations dictate.
· Maintain controls necessary to ensure Company's compliance with state sales and use tax laws.
· Maintain inventory control procedures and assist in their development.
· Cooperate with auditors of public accounting firm retain by Company to audit accounting procedures and records at year end.
· Oversee preparation of and prepare analyses of specific accounts to assist and comply with standards of the internal year end audit.
· Exercise supervision over the maintenance of the charts of accounts and related accounting manuals; assign new classifications, account sections and subsections as considered necessary.
· Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the company and make specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
· Act as immediate contact with independent auditor on accounting matters.
· Direct and coordinate the budget programs.
· Direct the preparation of annual budgets and provide continual analysis of current projections and operational results in comparison to budget and projections.
· Assume full responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting classification of all financial transactions.
· Conduct all duties in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles and Company policy.
· Maintain current level of knowledge in field by active membership in professional organizations, seminars, etc.
· Maintain current knowledge of total plant operations enabling assistance as required in maintaining ongoing business projections.
· Work safely and maintain a safe work environment.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- CPA, CMA advanced degrees desired. Pursuit of same required if not held.
- 4-7 years’ experience in Financial and/or Cost Accounting.
