Position Overview & Clinical Scope:
A Level I Trauma Center in the Minneapolis metro area is seeking a Temporary PACU Registered Nurse (RN). The PACU RN provides post-operative and post-anesthesia nursing care across the lifespan (pediatric to geriatric). Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, continuous cardiac monitoring, airway management, pain intervention, and multidisciplinary care coordination following surgical procedures.
Core Responsibilities & Clinical Duties:
- Post-Anesthesia Care: Execute post-operative assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, intervention, and evaluation for surgical patients recovering from general, regional, or local anesthesia.
- Critical Monitoring: Interpret cardiac rhythms, manage hemodynamic status, and maintain airway stability for high-acuity surgical recovery patients.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and inpatient clinical teams to adjust plans of care and facilitate safe patient disposition.
- Lifespan Clinical Delivery: Deliver specialized nursing interventions adapted to neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patient populations.
- Documentation & System Operations: Utilize Epic EMR for real-time clinical charting and medication administration.
Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements:
Licensure & Certifications:
- State Licensure: Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) License [REQUIRED].
- Life Support: Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications from AHA or ARC [REQUIRED].
Clinical Experience & Competencies:
- PACU Experience: Minimum of 2 years of dedicated PACU experience [REQUIRED].
- Critical Care Background: Minimum of 2 years of ICU/ED critical care experience [REQUIRED].
- Trauma & System Experience: Level I Trauma Center experience [REQUIRED].
- Travel Experience: Previous healthcare travel experience [REQUIRED].
- EHR & Technical Skills: Epic EMR proficiency and cardiac rhythm interpretation skill set [REQUIRED].
- Patient Population: Demonstrated clinical experience caring for pediatric through geriatric populations [REQUIRED].
