Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. DePuy Synthes (DPS) is recruiting for a Technician within the Joints Platform - Manufacturing Innovation team. This role will be located in Raynham, MA.

The Process Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and process controls support to manufacturing operations through the development, optimization, validation, and implementation of manufacturing processes. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve process capability, product quality, efficiency, and cost performance.

The Process Engineer applies engineering principles, statistical analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement tools to support new product introductions, process validations, equipment implementation, and manufacturing optimization initiatives. This position plays a key role in evaluating new technologies, conducting process characterization studies, and implementing sustainable solutions that enhance operational performance in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and controls to improve quality, efficiency, and operational performance.

  • Conduct process characterization, capability studies, designed experiments (DOE), and data analysis to improve process understanding and performance.

  • Research current and emerging technologies and evaluate alternatives related to process capability, quality, and cost.

  • Participate in engineering projects involving process improvements, new product introductions, equipment implementation, and manufacturing support activities.

  • Provide manufacturability feedback through design reviews and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Define process, equipment, and material requirements to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.

  • Evaluate and select manufacturing equipment and technologies to support operational objectives and future business needs.

  • Coordinate vendor evaluations, equipment trials, and technology assessments.

  • Develop, execute, and support process validation activities and capability assessments.

  • Analyze manufacturing processes and equipment performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain process specifications, work instructions, training materials, and technical documentation.

  • Support troubleshooting efforts through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementation of sustainable solutions.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance and compliance.

  • Support compliance with quality systems, safety regulations, and company procedures.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.

  • 2-4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, process engineering, operations, or a related technical environment.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, or similar manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to conduct process evaluations, data analysis, and technical investigations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple functions and levels of leadership.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles, process development, and manufacturing operations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Medical Device manufacturing or other highly regulated industries.

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with process validation activities and manufacturing qualifications.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or similar software.

  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), process characterization, and capability studies.

  • Project management experience supporting engineering or manufacturing initiatives.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Process Excellence, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.

  • Experience supporting equipment selection, qualification, and implementation projects.

  • Familiarity with quality systems, GMP requirements, and manufacturing compliance standards.

  • Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification preferred.

$65,000.00 - $104,650.00
