Description
Production Assistant – Deburrer
Location: Burbank, California
Company: WET (Design)
WET Design creates experiences that stop people in their tracks. From the Fountains of Bellagio to the Dubai Fountain—the world’s largest choreographed fountain—WET has reimagined what water, fire, fog, ice, light, sound, and motion can do together.
Our work is equal parts art, engineering, precision manufacturing, and imagination. We design and build one-of-a-kind kinetic water features and immersive environments for some of the world’s most recognizable destinations, brands, developers, governments, and cultural institutions.
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-driven Production Assistant – Deburrer to join our Burbank manufacturing team immediately. This is an essential production role for someone who takes pride in precision, works safely, moves with urgency, and understands that the quality of every individual component contributes to an extraordinary finished experience.
The Opportunity
As a Production Assistant – Deburrer, you will prepare machined components for assembly, finishing, and installation by removing burrs, sharp edges, and machining imperfections. You will also wash and clean parts to ensure they meet WET’s high standards for craftsmanship, functionality, safety, and appearance.
This role requires excellent hand and finger dexterity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with a high volume of parts while maintaining consistent quality. You will support material movement, shop organization, basic equipment care, and other production activities as needed.
The right person is reliable, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and eager to contribute wherever needed in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Deburr machined parts using grinders, polishers, hand tools, and other shop equipment
- Wash, clean, dry, and prepare finished and in-process parts for the next stage of production
- Inspect parts for sharp edges, burrs, surface defects, cleanliness, dimensional concerns, and overall quality
- Handle parts carefully to prevent scratches, contamination, damage, or loss of traceability
- Organize, stage, label, and move raw materials, work-in-process material, and finished parts throughout the production shop
- Cut material and fulfill cut orders accurately and on schedule according to drawings, specifications, and production priorities
- Examine and verify cut lengths, angles, and material condition before releasing work
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including material yards, wash areas, equipment, and production stations
- Minimize scrap and rework through careful handling, precision, and consistent inspection
- Troubleshoot basic production issues and escalate quality, equipment, or safety concerns promptly
- Perform equipment start-up, shut-down, routine inspection, lubrication, and basic maintenance at designated critical points
- Follow all WET safety procedures, PPE requirements, quality standards, and workplace policies
- Support other production areas and cross-train on saws, shop equipment, and additional manufacturing processes as assigned
- Work overtime and weekends as needed to help the team meet critical project schedules and delivery commitments
What You Bring:
- 4+ years of experience deburring parts in a production, machine shop, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience using grinders, polishers, hand tools, and related shop equipment safely and effectively
- Experience washing, cleaning, or preparing metal or machined components for assembly, finishing, coating, or shipment is strongly preferred
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination and high finger dexterity for detailed, repetitive, precision-oriented work
- Ability to identify burrs, rough edges, imperfections, and finish-quality issues with close visual inspection
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, cut lists, and basic production specifications
- Strong attention to detail without sacrificing pace, safety, or quality
- A self-motivated work style with the ability to work independently, prioritize work, and follow direction
- A team-first mindset and willingness to cross-train and assist in other shop areas when production demands require it
- Clear communication skills and the ability to hear and respond to equipment, process alarms, radio communications, and team direction
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, respectful, and accountable workplace
Physical And Schedule Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8+ hours per day
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements throughout the shift
- Ability to safely use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear as applicable
- Forklift certification is preferred
- Availability for overtime and weekend work when required to meet production deadlines
Why WET
At WET, the components you touch become part of experiences seen by millions of people around the world. This is not repetitive production for production’s sake—this is precision craftsmanship supporting landmark, custom-built projects that combine advanced engineering with visual spectacle.
If you are a skilled deburrer who values quality, enjoys hands-on work, has outstanding finger dexterity, and wants to contribute to a team that builds the impossible, we need you on the shop floor.
