He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
We're looking for two experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisors to help drive a proactive safety culture across our organisation. In this influential role, you'll partner with leaders and teams to strengthen health, safety and wellbeing performance, manage critical risks, and embed best practice into everyday operations.
As a trusted advisor, you'll provide practical guidance, coaching and support to leaders, helping them build capability and create safe, healthy and high-performing workplaces. You'll lead audits and investigations, analyse HSW trends and risks, and drive initiatives that deliver meaningful improvements for our people and the communities we serve.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with business leaders to provide expert health, safety and wellbeing advice.
- Coaching and influencing leaders to strengthen safety leadership and accountability.
- Supporting the identification and management of critical risks and controls.
- Leading incident investigations, audits and corrective action programmes.
- Using data and insights to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting the development and enhancement of HSW systems, policies and processes.
- Championing a culture where health, safety and wellbeing are everyone's responsibility.
This is a six-month, fixed term opportunity commencing September 2026.

You'll be a credible and relationship-focused HSW professional with a strong track record of influencing leaders and delivering positive health and safety outcomes within complex operational environments.
You bring a practical approach to risk management, strong analytical capability, and the confidence to challenge thinking while building trust and engagement with stakeholders at all levels.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, risk management principles and industry best practice.
- Experience in a health and safety advisory role within a complex operational environment.
- Knowledge of safety management systems and frameworks, including ISO 45001.
- Experience leading investigations, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong problem-solving and data analysis capability, with the ability to translate insights into action.
Professional registration (or working towards it), experience with safety data and reporting and exposure to the utilities, infrastructure or water sectors will be highly regarded.
