Salary Range: $70K - $85K annually + commission
About:
Engineered Products is seeking an experienced commercial HVAC sales professional to join its growing team. This position works closely with owners, engineers, architects, contractors, consultants, and manufacturers to provide commercial and industrial HVAC equipment and system solutions.
The role combines technical HVAC knowledge, relationship development, project support, and outside sales. The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing long-term customer relationships, identifying project opportunities, supporting system design needs, preparing proposals, and taking opportunities through the sales process.
Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and technically knowledgeable Commercial Account Executive / Outside Sales professional with commercial HVAC industry experience.
This position is responsible for selling commercial and industrial HVAC equipment and systems while developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, accounts, manufacturers, and engineering partners.
The role requires someone who can understand customer and project requirements, recommend appropriate HVAC solutions, prepare estimates and proposals, negotiate opportunities, and manage multiple projects throughout the sales process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales & Account Development
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers, contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, owners, and manufacturers.
- Sell commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, systems, and services.
- Develop a strong understanding of each customer's business, needs, and project requirements.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new business.
- Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Negotiate opportunities and work to successfully close sales.
- Keep management informed of sales activity, project progress, and account status.
- Collaborate closely with inside sales and other members of the sales team.
Technical Sales & Project Support
- Use commercial HVAC knowledge to understand customer needs, project constraints, and system requirements.
- Recommend equipment and system solutions based on project specifications and customer needs.
- Prepare and present estimates, bids, proposals, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and system requirements.
- Support design engineers with product selections, technical information, and manufacturer-specific resources.
- Assist with influencing project designs and specifications to help position products as the Basis of Design when appropriate.
- Track Basis of Design opportunities and project activity.
- Communicate shipping updates and potential impacts to project schedules.
- Provide technical specifications and product warranty documentation to design engineers.
- Communicate project status and engineering layout concerns to the appropriate internal teams.
- Coordinate engineering submittals and support the approval process.
- Assist with Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals and distribute documentation to internal Project Managers as needed.
Sales Operations & Internal Collaboration
- Manage multiple active sales opportunities and HVAC projects simultaneously.
- Work closely with inside sales support throughout the quoting and order process.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable collection efforts when needed.
- Maintain accurate project and sales information within company tracking systems.
- Utilize industry and manufacturer-specific software to support customers and design engineers.
- Maintain timely communication with internal team members throughout the sales and project process.
- Support the continued development of the sales team.
- Perform general administrative responsibilities related to the sales and design engineering process.
Experience and Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of account management, sales, or leadership experience, or equivalent professional experience.
- HVAC, mechanical contracting, engineering, or construction industry experience required.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand commercial HVAC applications.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with contractors, engineers, owners, consultants, manufacturers, and other industry partners.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and navigate industry-specific and manufacturer-specific software.
- Comfortable working both in an office environment and out in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous commercial HVAC outside sales or account management experience.
- Experience working with HVAC manufacturers, manufacturer's representatives, mechanical contractors, or consulting engineers.
- Experience supporting equipment selection, estimating, bidding, proposals, or HVAC system design.
- Military background or experience preferred.
