## The Senior Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer at Micron Penang is an outstanding chance to join a world-class team focused on occupational safety and environmental health. This position plays a key role in maintaining smooth site operations while following Micron's EHS standards, Malaysian laws, and global certifications.
## Job Scope:
- Lead and support ambitious occupational safety programs across diverse site areas including manufacturing, facilities, and external locations.
- Conduct workplace inspections, Gemba walks, and compliance assessments to determine and implement corrective actions successfully.
- Manage contractor EHS prequalification, evaluation, onboarding, training, performance monitoring, and compliance with Micron's stringent requirements.
- Assess contractors' EHS plans, HIRARC, job hazard analyses, method statements, pre-task plans, and safe work procedures.
- Manage and provide support for permit-to-work procedures related to high-risk activities including work at height, confined spaces, lifting, rigging, hot work, electrical work, and chemical handling.
- Conduct field verification to ensure approved controls are effectively implemented and exercise Stop Work authority when unacceptable risks are identified.
- Lead and facilitate EHS risk assessments for site operations, equipment, projects, and workplace changes, ensuring risks are controlled according to the hierarchy of controls.
- Lead or support investigations of injuries, near misses, property damage, and high-potential events, including root-cause analysis and corrective-action efficiency verification.
- Coordinate implementation of Global EHS alerts, CIT actions, lessons learned, and site-wide preventive measures.
- Review new and modified equipment, engineering controls, workplace layouts, and facilities changes for EHS compliance and operational readiness.
- Support emergency preparedness, response equipment readiness, evacuation drills, traffic safety, and abnormal-event response.
- Support compliance with applicable Malaysian EHS legislation and liaison with DOSH, BOMBA, and other relevant authorities when assigned.
- Support ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RBA, corporate, customer, and regulatory audits, including evidence preparation and findings closure.
- Develop and deliver EHS training, contractor safety orientation, safety communication, and employee engagement programs.
- Collect, analyze, and report site and contractor EHS performance, including incidents, safe labor hours, observations, inspection findings, and corrective-action closure.
- Drive continuous improvement through EHS data analytics, process standardization, digitalization, and cross-functional initiatives.
## Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field.
- Applicable background in occupational safety, contractor safety, manufacturing EHS, semiconductor operations, industrial facilities, or construction environments.
- Registration as a Safety and Health Officer with DOSH is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in working at height, confined spaces, lifting, scaffolding, first aid, ISO 14001/45001 auditing, scheduled-waste management, or radiation safety is beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational safety requirements, contractor safety controls, permit-to-work systems, and high-risk activities.
- Proven capability to assess HIRARC, method statements, job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, and contractor EHS submissions.
- Experience in incident investigation, root-cause analysis, audits, inspections, corrective-action management, and EHS performance reporting.
- Strong contractor management, communication, collaborator coordination, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proactive, diligent, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing and project environment.
- Able to support urgent EHS matters, abnormal situations, or emergencies outside normal working hours when required.
- Demonstrate AI proficiency by effectively applying approved AI and automation tools to improve efficiency, quality, decision-making, and collaboration. Continuously learn and adopt AI-enabled ways of working in support of Micron's AI transformation and future workforce requirements.
