What you'll do:

The position of Financial Crimes Compliance Risk Assessment Senior Analyst is responsible for gathering performance data and performing risk analysis at the direction of the AML and Fraud Risk Assessment Manager. This includes supporting the development, data gathering and formulating, and interacting with different business units to assess the risk described in the Banks policies and procedures. Works closely with the FCC Risk Assessment Manager to obtain data elements from a variety of Bank data sources and in accordance with Data Documentation Requirements.

Collectively the FCC Risk Assessment unit, will work to analyze risk associated with customer base, products, services, transactions, and geographical locations. Assists with the interpretation of policies and procedures to determine if risk is addressed within risk assessment process. Must possess keen analytical skills to analyze risks associated with new or existing products, services, or bank acquisitions.

This position will work closely with the FCC Risk Manager to manage and update the BSA/AML and OFAC Risk Assessment, the BSA/AML and OFAC Country Risk Assessments, Product & Services Risk Assessment, and Security and Fraud Risk Assessment by reporting inherent, perceived, and residual risks and actions needed to appropriate manager or management group. All risk assessments are to be continuously conducted using regulatory guidance and industry knowledge. Other risk assessments may be needed from time-to-time.

Assists the FCC Program Manager in creating and distributing Risk Assessment related information obtained from several sources including, but not limited to manuals, policies, Internet, auditors, trade associations and training seminars to give direction on implementing all BSA/USA Patriot Act/AML/OFAC/Fraud policy and procedures.

Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations. Able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Conduct essential duties and responsibilities as directed, managed, and approved by the FCC Risk Assessment Manager
  • Provide updates to the Enterprise-wide BSA/AML and OFAC Risk Assessments; including, but not limited to, all scoping survey, analysis of customers, products, services, transactions, and geography for Western Alliance Bank, its divisions, affiliates, and third-party service providers as needed
  • Provide updates to the Security and Fraud Risk Assessments; including, but not limited to, analysis of types of fraud and the effects on customers, products, services, and transactions. Works closely with business units to obtain risk related information as needed
  • Provide updates to Country Risk Assessment. Read and interpret domestic and international reports about foreign countries to support risk assessment
  • Work directly with other business units to obtain data and information to support the risk assessment process
  • Conduct risk assessments for new or existing products or services
  • Ensure all related procedures and processes documentation is current and updated in accordance to regulatory guidance and Bank practices
  • Conduct training on related topics as directed
  • Ensure compliance with bank policy and regulatory requirements

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of overall banking and transaction types, delivery channels, methods, bank products and services, and risk assessment processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of CTRs, SARs, MIRs, OFAC and High-Risk Accounts. Understanding of GL, ban-control and special use accounts.
  • Previous experience in quantitative analysis with an emphasis in Data Management.
  • Previous experience in interpreting bank policies, procedures, processes and controls.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products with an emphasis on Excel
  • Intermediate experience using BSA/AML transaction monitoring and/or case management software required.
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
  • BSA Certification and Microsoft Excel Certification preferred
  • Ability to occasionally travel – (other divisions, conference, off-site training seminars)
