About the Role

The Sr. Accountant, Operations Finance plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by providing financial analysis, cost accounting expertise, and decision support to drive operational and financial performance. This position partners closely with the Sr. Plant Controller, Operations, Engineering, and cross-functional business leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and informed business decision-making. The role is responsible for coordinating and executing month-end close activities and management reporting, including providing detailed analysis of manufacturing performance and cost drivers. The Sr. Accountant, Operations Finance also supports and coordinates development of monthly forecasts, annual budgeting, capital investment analysis, and long-term strategic business planning. 

Key responsibilities: Sr. Accountant, Operations Finance  

• Coordinate and execute the plant month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and management reporting, to ensure timely and accurate financial results
• Perform detailed variance analysis of actual results compared with operating plan and forecast; clearly explain price, usage, volume, efficiency, mix, and spending drivers to plant and corporate stakeholders
• Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, utilities, fixed costs, and production performance, to identify trends, unusual activity, and opportunities for operational improvement
• Support development of annual budgets, and monthly forecasts including analysis and variance explanations
• Maintain and validate standard costs, bills of materials and costing structures to ensure reliable product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing performance reporting
• Review financial analysis prepared by the plant for the small projects, especially ensuring capturing benefits and continuous improvement from capex
• Provide financial consulting on key strategic initiatives and priorities to help the organization stay focused on achieving their strategic goals
• Prepare financial capex analyses for major projects, ensuring alignment with business strategies, priorities, and financial requirements
• Support and help prepare capital strategic business plans (5-year plan)
• Support capital cash flow forecast for the Treasury team
• Support preparation of presentations for senior management team and assist Sr. Plant Controller with presentations to Operations Leadership, the Capital Engineering Team, COO and CFO
• Support any special project work throughout the Operations team
• Ad hoc analysis & other business requests - provide ad hoc reports and analysis as needed to support overall business

About You

• BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred
• 5 to 10 years of experience in financial analysis, financial/strategic planning, reporting or FP&A
• Experience owning full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and management reporting
• Background in budgeting and forecasting within a manufacturing or plant environment
• Strong experience analyzing variable and fixed costs in a plant or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing and variance analysis
• Ability to operate independently as the senior finance lead in a site-based environment
• Prior experience with financial reporting systems and visualization tools, such as SAP, Planful, Onestream and Power BI
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes
• Broad overall business acumen with proficient ability to talk with executives in business terms
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines. Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time
• Occasional travel, typically less than 10%
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook required; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills include analytical modeling, robust chart prep and data mining for large data sets
• Hands on experience with EPM software (e.g., Workday, SAP, Adaptive)

The annual pay range estimated for this position is $78,125.60 - $97,657.00 and is bonus eligible.
