Our Mission
We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list. Hear from our team about what it’s like working at Capital One UK.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced FP&A Analyst to help drive our best-in-class FP&A team. As a team, we are responsible for a myriad of critical items, including senior stakeholder engagement, insight-focused analysis of our portfolio, and the presentation of key actionable insights to senior stakeholders. The role adds significant value to Finance’s business partnering capability by providing accurate and important information to drive key business decisions.
With the support of your manager, you will be responsible for responding to requests from business leadership, the FP&A Director, and other colleagues within the Finance department. The role involves in-depth analysis of our portfolio, as well as specialised projects for the broader business and Finance team.
What you’ll be doing
Synthesising and simplifying financial and non-financial data.
Developing dynamic financial models and scenario analyses for strategic investments and different parts of our portfolio.
Supporting investment pitches, assessing their impacts on annual budgets, and creating longer-term forecasts for those pitches.
Supporting ad hoc requests from leadership.
Working with team members and the wider FP&A team to feed into Monthly Financials Review (MFR) meetings and/or other reporting requirements.
Driving forward process improvement-related activities for the benefit of the department.
Supporting usual FP&A tasks, such as:
Producing month-end reporting.
Reporting and consolidating budgets.
Developing reports to facilitate the monitoring and communication of performance against targets, and supporting the review of outlooks (e.g., forecasts) and budgets.
Ensuring reporting reflects the most up-to-date and accurate information available.
How you’ll be doing it
Utilising all systems and applications relevant to the required outputs of the role (e.g., OneStream, Workday, G-Suite, Microsoft Office).
Investigating new technologies and tools, and supporting process improvement workstreams.
Using business knowledge to ensure work remains focused on key finance priorities.
Pushing the envelope of our capabilities via new data integration and automation.
Focusing on key risks and opportunities.
Collaborating with business contacts and finance teams across the organisation to deliver optimal outcomes.
What we’re looking for
Strong problem-solving skills: The ability to bridge the gap between financial reporting and our business's day-to-day activities, ensuring our leaders have the financial context they need when making key decisions.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills: Capable of working effectively with teams both internal and external to Finance.
Strong analytical skills: Analysing investment opportunities, identifying variances against forecasts, ensuring accuracy, spotting errors, and framing the overall narrative by asking the right questions.
Functional knowledge of accounting principles: e.g., P&L, budgeting, forecasting, etc.
Strong technical skills. (Familiarity with Python, SQL, Google Apps Script (think VBA), etc. is a major plus!)
Excellent communication skills: The ability to tailor written and verbal communications to diverse audiences, both within and outside of Finance.
Strategic coordination: The ability to coordinate a complex set of inputs with different drivers, timelines, and priorities, and synthesise them into a cohesive narrative.
A growth mindset: A continuous improvement and change-agile mentality.
