Information Technology Technician

Description

The Information Technology Technician provides hands-on technology support for Indian Rocks Church and Indian Rocks Christian School. Reporting to the IT Director, this position helps maintain reliable, secure technology across Indian Rocks locations, including user devices, accounts, applications, networks, on-premises systems, and cloud services. The technician supports Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Azure, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other approved systems; assists with church services, school activities, and daily operations; and responds to technology needs from staff, faculty, ministry teams, and volunteers. Travel to and on-site support at other Indian Rocks locations may be required.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain and monitor network infrastructure at Indian Rocks Church and Indian Rocks Christian School locations, including Wi-Fi, switches, routers, firewalls, and related equipment. Troubleshoot connectivity and network performance issues; experience with UniFi is beneficial.
• Support and troubleshoot on-premises servers, computers, Windows, ChromeOS, and Apple devices, printers, peripherals, and other systems used by church and school staff, faculty, and ministries.
• Assist with user accounts, identity and access, device enrollment, configuration, application deployment, and routine administration across Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace, Hexnode, and Apple School Manager, following established procedures.
• Apply approved operating system, software, and firmware updates; support endpoint security and device compliance; help maintain backups and reliable connections between on-premises systems, campus networks, and cloud services; and promptly report suspected security incidents or high-impact issues.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot technology for church services, school activities, online ministry, events, and meetings, including audiovisual equipment as assigned.
• Provide timely, courteous technical support to church and school staff, faculty, ministry leaders, and volunteers. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account-access, printing, and connectivity issues; explain solutions clearly; and document support work.
• Maintain accurate inventory of computers, tablets, servers, network and audiovisual equipment, printers, and accessories. Respond to repair and maintenance requests professionally and travel to other Indian Rocks locations to provide on-site support as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. 
• At least 2 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a church, school, nonprofit, or similar multi-site environment.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and work in confined or awkward spaces when installing or troubleshooting equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to travel to and provide on-site support at multiple Indian Rocks locations, including church and school campuses, as needed.

Skills And Competencies

• Proficiency in network management, troubleshooting, and security protocols, with strong knowledge of hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance. Working knowledge of on-premises and cloud environments, including servers, Azure services, identity and access, endpoint management, backups, networking, and connections between local systems and cloud services. Ability to follow established procedures and escalate complex or high-impact changes.
• Proficiency supporting the organization’s technology systems, including Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace, Windows, ChromeOS, Apple devices, Hexnode, and Apple School Manager. Familiarity with UniFi networking, printers, and audiovisual systems is beneficial. 
• A positive, cooperative team member who works effectively with families, church members, school faculty and staff, ministry teams, volunteers, and colleagues with varying levels of technical experience. Communicates clearly, resolves concerns professionally, protects confidential information, and cultivates cooperative relationships across the church, school, membership, and community.

• Must be an active member of Indian Rocks as defined by regular attendance in worship services, regular attendance/involvement in an Indian Rocks Connection Group or Small Group, commitment to systematic stewardship, and faithful in tithing.
