At Home Depot Canada, Finance is a trusted business partner that helps shape strategic decisions and delivers meaningful business results. As the Manager/Senior Manager, Finance, you will serve as a key strategic advisor to Finance and business leadership, providing financial leadership, enterprise insights, and forward-looking analysis that support growth, profitability, and long-term business objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Lead the enterprise financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Vice Presidents, Senior Leaders, and Finance leadership teams.
- Drive financial strategies that support business growth, profitability, productivity, and long-term value creation.
- Provide thought leadership and insights regarding financial risks, opportunities, and emerging business trends.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into meaningful business recommendations for executive leadership.
Enterprise Planning & Forecasting
- Own the annual operating plan, strategic plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial outlook.
- Lead the coordination of planning activities across multiple Finance teams and business functions.
- Develop scenario analyses and sensitivity models to support executive decision-making.
- Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and financial commitments.
Executive Business Partnership
- Partner with senior leaders across Merchandising, Supply Chain, Stores, Pro, Marketing, Ecommerce, and Corporate Functions.
- Influence key business decisions through financial and operational insights.
- Challenge assumptions and provide objective recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Lead financial reviews with executive leadership and the CFO organization.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Associate Finance Managers and Financial Analysts.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and development.
- Drive succession planning and talent development within the Finance organization.
- Mentor future Finance associates and establish robust development plans for top talent.
Financial Performance Management
- Monitor financial performance against targets and identify opportunities to enhance results.
- Lead root-cause analysis of key financial variances and business performance indicators.
- Develop dashboards, business intelligence tools, and management reporting capabilities that improve visibility and decision-making.
- Drive accountability for achieving financial commitments.
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
- Champion process simplification, automation, and analytical innovation.
- Lead strategic initiatives that improve planning accuracy, reporting efficiency, and business insights.
- Drive the adoption of new tools, technologies, and best practices across the Finance function.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Canadian and U.S.-based Finance teams to align financial assumptions and planning approaches.
- Establish strong partnerships across internal functions and stakeholder groups.
- Lead enterprise-wide projects and special assignments that support strategic priorities.
- Share and implement best practices across the Finance organization.
What You Will Need to Be Successful
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or related field.
- MBA and/or CPA designation preferred.
Experience
- 8+ years of progressive Finance, FP&A, strategic planning, or business partnering experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing and developing Finance teams.
- Experience supporting executive leadership and presenting to senior audiences.
- Proven success leading complex planning and forecasting processes.
Technical Skills
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Expertise in budgeting, strategic planning, and performance management.
- Experience leveraging financial systems, reporting tools, and data analytics platforms.
