What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. This role requires expertise in multiple programming languages and a strong focus on software lifecycle execution, including CI/CD and automated testing. You will work on Big Data platform applying sound technical judgment and design principles for processing large datasets. Partnering across functions, you will drive innovation, maintain high-quality standards, and mentor peers to ensure reliable, efficient, and customer-focused software systems aligned with Walmart’s strategic objectives.

What you'll do:
Core Responsibilities
- Architecture & Modeling: Design and scale dimensional data models (star schema, snowflake) and enterprise data warehouses/lakes.
- Pipeline Development: Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT batch and real-time streaming pipelines.
- Platform Optimization: Tune SQL queries and optimize resource-intensive computing and storage systems for cost and scale.
- Enabling Advanced & Generative AI: Integrate LLMs or ML models in Workflows.
- Data Governance & Quality: Enforce strict data quality, auditing, and compliance frameworks to ensure data integrity.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Data Scientists and product managers, translating complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor, guiding junior/mid-level engineers and establishing team-wide architectural standards.
What you'll bring:
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing data pipelines, data architecture, and managing data lifecycles.
- Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with Scala or GO is a plus.
- Big Data & Cloud: Proven experience in modern big data and cloud ecosystems (e.g., GCP, AWS or Azure).
- Frameworks: Proficiency with distributed computing (SPARK, MPP), workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, Composer). Real-time streaming expertise (e.g., Kafka, Flink) is highly desirable. Exposure to Machine Learning libraries (MLib, TensorFlow) is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data- Science, Engineering, Maths or equivalent practical experience.

The annual salary range for this position is $99,000.00 - $198,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
