Job Description Summary
We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Test Engineering Technician to join our Test Facility at our Rugby site. This role is essential in supporting the testing of high-power rotating machines, including motors and generators used across a range of industries such as Oil & Gas, Industrial, Marine, Naval and Renewable Energy.You will play a key role in preparing equipment for test, carrying out a variety of electrical and mechanical testing activities, and ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with engineering procedures and quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Following all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and safe working practices
- Preparing rotating machines for testing, including mechanical fitting, coupling and drive installation
- Performing a range of electrical tests, including Insulation Resistance, Electrical Resistance, High Voltage Flash, Inter-turn, Partial Discharge (PD) and Tan Delta testing
- Operating and monitoring engineering tests on motors and generators, including open circuit, short circuit, heat run, vibration and temperature monitoring tests
- Recording test data and producing accurate test reports for engineering teams and customers
- Ensuring all testing activities are completed in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with 5S principles
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Test Facility
- Providing support across other manufacturing and assembly areas of the factory when required
- Working collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to achieve operational objectives
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or test environment
- Mechanical fitting and/or electrical testing experience
- Ability to interpret technical procedures and follow defined processes
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when required
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
- Experience testing rotating electrical machines, motors or generators
- Knowledge of high-voltage electrical testing techniques
- Understanding of electrical measurement and diagnostic equipment
- Experience working within a Lean Manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement methodologies

Shift Pattern:
We currently have 2 vacancies available:
- One position will be on a late shift, working 13:45 hrs – 00:30 hrs.
- The second position is to be confirmed and may be either a day shift or a late shift.
