We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Site EHS Leader to spearhead Environmental, Health & Safety excellence for our Grid Automation (GA), North America group. This is primarily a site-based leadership role supporting both the establishment and long-term operation of our new Salt Lake City manufacturing facility.

As a key member of our site leadership team, you will not just oversee compliance; you will architect a world-class safety culture from the ground up. This is a unique, "greenfield" opportunity to influence the design, commissioning, and launch of the facility. You will be instrumental in supporting the production launch, ramp-up, and continued manufacturing growth, ensuring EHS excellence is baked into our infrastructure, processes, and daily operations from day one. In addition to your site-specific impact, you will play a vital role in the broader North American EHS community, sharing best practices and supporting strategic initiatives across the region.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

• Strategic Leadership: Serve as the EHS subject matter expert and a trusted advisor to site leadership.
• Facility Launch: Partner with Engineering and Operations to integrate EHS controls during equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
• Culture Building: Foster a proactive environment where safety is a core business value, utilizing Gemba walks and high-visibility floor presence.
• Compliance & Risk: Manage regulatory requirements (OSHA/EPA) and lead the implementation of GE Vernova’s EHS Framework 3.0.
• Continuous Improvement: Utilize data-driven insights to manage operational risks, conduct root-cause investigations, and drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure seamless, safe project execution.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, or project-based environments, combined with at least 5 years of experience leading EHS programs, including operational risk management, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and EHS management systems.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

• Management Systems: Experience implementing or managing ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
• Contractor & Stakeholder Management: Experience managing contractor EHS and working with consultants, customers and regulatory authorities.
• Expertise: Strong command of US federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA/EPA).
• Launch Experience: Demonstrated success in facility start-ups, expansions, or commissioning projects.
• Certifications: Professional certification (CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Influence: Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and thrive in a matrixed organization.
• Adaptability: Willingness to travel up to 30\% across North America to support wider regional EHS initiatives.

Salt Lake City Area, Utah, USA – Grid Automation (GA), North America.

This is primarily a site-based leadership role supporting both the establishment and long-term operation of the Salt Lake City manufacturing facility.

The Site EHS Leader will play a critical role in embedding a strong EHS culture from greenfield establishment through commissioning, production launch, ramp-up and continued manufacturing growth.

Travel of up to 30% may be required based on business needs, including travel to GE Vernova facilities, customer and project sites, audits, investigations, training and other NAM EHS activities.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $99,200.00 and $165,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
