Banking Team Leader

Our client, a leading organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Banking Team Leader to lead its Finance Banking team and oversee the day-to-day banking operations while driving process improvements, ensuring financial accuracy, and building strong stakeholder relationships.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys combining operational management with people development in a fast-paced finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance Banking team.
• Oversee daily cash planning, insurance receipt processing, and allocation of insurance receipts.
• Manage the processing and approval of local and foreign payments.
• Review and approve accounting journals.
• Oversee business credit card expenditure reporting and reconciliations.
• Administer online banking platforms and provide first-line support to online banking users.
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting, including the review of bank and clearing account reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain bank reconciliation dashboards, monitor ageing balances, and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly VAT reporting and VAT201 submissions.
• Coordinate and manage year-end audit deliverables.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance systems, tools, and operational processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, banking institutions, insurance partners, and external auditors.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance Banking team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
• Provide operational support to senior finance leadership as required.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Degree.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within financial operations and/or banking.
• Minimum 3 years' experience managing and leading a team.
• Experience implementing financial processes and operational improvements.
• Knowledge of accounting systems, with SAP experience being advantageous.
