The Readiness and Resilience Manager role is part of Blue Origin Corporate Functions, providing centralized business continuity, incident readiness, and resilience support across Blue Origin business units, functions, and locations. It serves as the Business Continuity team’s subject matter expert and program owner for enterprise exercise design, readiness validation, incident and crisis management training, emergency exercises, and continuous improvement. This role also supports the emerging TeraWave Business unit during its initial phases.
In this role you will lead Blue Origin's enterprise exercise and readiness validation program, serving as the team's specialist in designing, facilitating, and evaluating exercises that test the effectiveness of continuity plans, incident management procedures, recovery strategies, and cross-functional decision-making. Business continuity planning and BIA support are performed in service of this primary mission.
You will convert incident lessons learned into documented corrective actions with assigned owners, timelines, and measurable completion criteria -tracking those actions to closure and reporting readiness status to senior leadership on a recurring basis.
Incident and Crisis Readiness, Training, and Exercise Subject Matter Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the Blue Origin Enterprise Exercise and Training Program, including an annual exercise calendar and multi-year program plan that progressively matures Blue Origin's readiness posture.
- Lead the design, planning, facilitation, and evaluation of tabletop exercises, drills, workshops, functional exercises, and simulations using the HSEEP model or comparable methodology - serving as the enterprise standard-setter for exercise quality.
- Develop exercise objectives, scenarios, injects, participant materials, facilitator guides, evaluation criteria, and after-action reports.
- Own the Exercise Improvement Tracking System: convert after-action findings into corrective actions with assigned owners, timelines, and measurable completion criteria, tracked to closure.
- Maintain a Readiness Scorecard communicating exercise completion, plan validation status, and corrective action progress to senior leadership.
Business Unit Resilience Support
- Support the Business Resilience team’s engagement with emerging business units, including TeraWave, as operational needs, program priorities, and team assignments require.
- Partner with TeraWave stakeholders during early operational maturation to help establish foundational Business Continuity Management capabilities, including Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), Business Recovery Plans, Contingency Management Plans, recovery strategies, and related continuity documentation.
- Help integrate TeraWave and other emerging or evolving organizations into enterprise business continuity, incident- and crisis-management training, exercise, and continuity-plan testing programs.
Business Continuity Planning and Business Impact Analysis Responsibilities:
- Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) with business units and functional groups to identify mission-critical processes, dependencies, recovery objectives, and continuity requirements.
- Translate BIA findings into actionable Business Recovery Plans and Crisis Management Plans that can be directly tested through the exercise program.
- Maintain continuity documentation within the BCM software platform; develop reports and dashboards communicating BIA status, plan maturity, and recovery readiness.
- Support the ongoing delivery and maturation of the BIA framework, standards, and methodologies.
Special Mention:
- Location: Renton, Washington
- Schedule: Flexibility is required to support a 24/7 operational environment, which may include after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support for incident response, business disruption recovery, planned exercises, and other time-sensitive business-resilience activities.
- Travel: approximately 15–20% is required to support Blue Origin locations, regional exercises, and business continuity program needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry or military experience.
- 3+ years of progressive experience planning, implementing, or sustaining Business Continuity Management, disaster recovery, emergency management, incident and crisis management, operational resilience, or related programs.
- Demonstrated experience designing, facilitating, or evaluating tabletop exercises, drills, workshops, simulations, training, or other continuity and crisis-readiness activities.
- Demonstrated experience conducting Business Impact Analyses and developing, maintaining, or validating business recovery, continuity, or crisis-management plans.
- Knowledge of Business Continuity Management principles, recovery strategies, BIA methodologies, and plan-testing practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting incident-management teams, emergency operations centers, launch operations, hazardous operations, manufacturing operations, aerospace operations, or other high-reliability environments.
- Experience developing multi-year continuity-plan testing, training, or exercise programs.
- Experience using data, reporting, and dashboards to communicate program maturity, testing results, risk, and corrective-action progress.
- Experience working with Generative AI tools and applications.
- Certifications: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), or Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP).
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $150,743.00 - $211,039.50Other site ranges may differ
