Job Summary
- Assists in the overall development, management, implementation and oversight of one or more Corewell Health Compliance Department Centers of Expertise (COEs).
- Manages the team members assigned to the COE(s). Assumes accountability for the team’s deliverables, ensuring the achievement of team goals and objectives in addition to individual goals and objectives. Completes performance reviews, recommends and initiates personnel actions such as interviewing, hiring, performance correction and terminations.
- Assists in and, as needed, may direct compliance investigations and works with assigned Compliance team members to determine the appropriate handling of issues. May perform investigations at the direction of legal counsel and, in that event, works with legal counsel in the course of such investigation to provide guidance, recommendations and other assistance as requested. May work with external regulatory agencies and legal counsel to resolve compliance issues.
- Develops and maintains COE and program standards, procedures and methodologies. Continually evaluates existing processes in the COE/Compliance Department and works to implement improvements.
- Develops and implements effective systems to ensure accurate documentation. Ensures availability of all reports and records for area(s) of responsibility. Assists in the compilation and production of reports to the Corewell Health Boards of Directors and Compliance Committees.
- Collaborates with operational leaders and teams at Corewell Health and Priority Health to change and improve business processes to support, and mitigate risks to, the organization and patient/member rights. Collaborates with other key internal stakeholders, including legal, internal audit, risk management and finance departments, leaders and team members.
- Responsible for monitoring developments related to laws and regulations impacting health care delivery and health insurance, as well as industry trends in health care corporate compliance programs. Assists in communicating these developments and responsible for leading the development/modification of policies and procedures to accommodate any legal/regulatory changes and updates. May assist in developing and deploying training to staff in a variety of venues and service areas with respect to compliance topics, requirements and initiatives as well as Corewell Health.
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business, health care operations/management, nursing or other related area
- Preferred Master's Degree business, health care operations/management, nursing or other health care area
- 5 years of relevant experience health care operations, auditing, health care compliance Required
- 1 year of relevant experience supervisory/management Preferred
- CRT-Healthcare Compliance, Certified (CHC) - HCCA Health Care Compliance Association 1 Year preferred Or
- CRT-Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Certified (CHPC) - UNKNOWN Unknown 1 Year preferred
