The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered, and that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately. 

Requirements

 Primary Responsibilities/ Tasks: 

  1. Develops, coordinates and implements all activities pertaining to extended care including but not limited to maintaining ratio, professional development, maintaining daily attendance records, timekeeping, ordering materials, maintaining a detailed inventory lists of all materials and equipment. Plan and Implement a developmentally appropriate kinder prep programming for all extended children that stimulates exploration, creativity and learning.   
  2. Analyze academic reports and provide constructive feedback to teachers regarding student's academic outcomes, ensuring that at minimum 80% of children meet their school readiness goals. Report Outcomes to the Center Director.  
  3. Collaborate with the Center Director to ensure staff engagement with the organization. promote and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment, where 80% employees demonstrate high commitment and engagement with the organization.  
  4. Ensure and maintain compliance with center accreditation standards, such as Keystone STARS and NAEYC, upholding our commitment to program quality. 
  5. Conduct weekly visits to classrooms, offering ongoing support and guidance to teacher and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.  
  6. Assist the Center Director in ensuring the compliance of internal and external audits, striving for a 90% achievement rate. 
  7. Support the Center Director in overseeing the effective operation and compliance of all funding streams, including Early Head Start, Head Start, PHL Prek, Prek Counts, ELRC, Private Pay and other financial resources. 
  8. Implement strategies and programs to ensure that all children enrolled meet or exceed established educational outcomes, promoting their overall development and school readiness. 
  9. Coordinate and track teachers professional development hours and credentials, ensuring continuous growth and skill enhancement. 
  10. Maintain an inventory of all classrooms and learning materials and equipment, ensuring a well-equipped and stimulating learning environment.  
  11. Ensure compliance with teaching staff and student academic records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation. 
  12. Ensure timely submission of data entry and reports to meet program requirements and deadlines. 
  13. Monitor and report staff progress and child outcomes based on student assessments and school readiness goals, using data to inform program improvements. 
  14. Empower teachers through coaching and mentoring techniques to build their capacity as effective instructional leaders, aligning with curriculum guidelines and regulations. 
  15. Ensuring that ASQ's are accurately completed and uploaded into the system.  
  16. Ensure IFSP's IEP's are Uploaded into the system. 
  17. Collaborate with the Center Director to ensure classrooms are fully staffed with qualifies and effective teachers, participating in the selection process, providing input on teacher evaluations, and designing instructional approaches to support effective teaching. 
  18. Collaborate with the Center Director in aiming for an 85% staff retention rate and monitoring staff attendance to maintain operational staff efficiency. 
  19. Assume the responsibilities of the Center Director as needed during their absence, ensuring continuity of canter operations and leadership. 
  20. Complete any other duties as assigned by the Center Director.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's Degree or graduate-level work that includes coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education. (Official transcripts required to validate educational credentials.) 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience supervising staff and in management of a child care center/ preferably in a comprehensive childcare program.   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to converse, read and write Spanish and English (preferred). 
  • Commitment to dual language learning (English and Spanish). 
  • Demonstrated ability to implement the use of appropriate curricula and instructional materials to enhance teaching and learning. 
  • Awareness of Puerto Rican culture/community (preferred). 
  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decision-making. 
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet, and e-mail. 
  • Ability to secure clearance for PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI, and National Sex Offenders Clearance (required). 
  • Possess or ability to secure a Driver’s License and insurance (preferred). 
  • Ability to secure health clearances every two years and TB once (required). 
  • Proficiency in Excel, Powe point and Microsoft Office, Salesforce. 
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or another universal language. 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds 
  • Ability to climb steps.
