Position Description:
Refrigeration Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain ammonia screw compressor package for refrigeration and perform routine preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment and make repairs as required to maintain proper food temperatures according to USDA and company standards.
Maintain ammonia evaporators and their control stations to ensure adequate temperatures in specific areas to meet USDA and company standards.
Maintain ammonia condensers to ensure efficiency and liquid levels in the ammonia vessels remain at the required points which completes the refrigeration cycle.
Maintain boilers and steam controls to facilitate processing, cooking and sanitation processes based on USDA and production requirements.
Conduct chemical testing to maintain appropriate levels in the water to allow optimum performance of equipment and to prevent scaling of the tubes.
Maintain ammonia vessels and liquid pumps to adequately supply ammonia or oil or both to the appropriate areas to ensure that required temperatures are achieved as required per USDA and company production standards. Additional duties as assigned by management.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills will be necessary to log information, to process daily work orders and to complete required documentation.
Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Must be flexible regarding work hours & schedule.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills and must be able to communicate effectively.
Communication Skills: Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels.
Basic math skills: percentages, fractions, and measurements are necessary to perform this job at a satisfactory level.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. occasionally and ability to lift to 10 lbs. frequently.
Ability to stand on hard surfaces for up to 12 hours per day and ability to work in confined spaces, walk, climb, bend and stoop.
Job requires Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling. The temperature ranges from 40-75 degrees.
Internal Requirements At Time Of Application:
Refrigeration Maintenance positions require that you are currently enrolled in an Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance Program (proof of enrollment is required) OR have one year of experience working in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance OR one year of classroom training from a Technical College (proof of training is required with a passing grade OR must have graduated from a technical college with a certification in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance OR one
Points must be under 5
No Written Warning disciplinary actions within the last 12 months, excluding attendance
