We are looking for a motivated Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial Operations team. In this role, you will support the financial performance, reporting, and commercial strategy of a portfolio of power generation assets while working closely with experienced leaders and cross-functional teams.

This is a strong early-career opportunity to build your expertise in power markets, financial analysis, and commercial operations through hands-on work in modeling, reporting, and market analysis.

You will gain exposure to trading, risk, finance, development, and asset management, with a focus on Eastern power markets such as PJM and MISO.

You will contribute to our team through the following responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain financial and operational models to forecast revenue, costs, gross margin, and asset performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term planning by analyzing commercial and operational drivers.
  • Monitor trade performance and profit and loss results, and explain key market and operational drivers.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on generation, revenue, margin, and key performance indicators.
  • Support settlement review and reconciliation by identifying discrepancies and investigating root causes.
  • Analyze energy, capacity, ancillary services, fuel, and emissions market trends and their impact on asset performance.
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and policy developments and provide clear, data-driven insights.
  • Extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets using SQL, Excel, Python, and related tools.
  • Develop and improve automated reporting, dashboards, API-based data connections, and analytical tools.
  • Work collaboratively with trading, risk, finance, accounting, and asset management teams on cross-functional priorities and ad hoc analysis.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related analytical discipline.
  • 5-8 years of experience in an analytical, financial, energy, or other quantitative environment.
  • Experience in the utilities, power generation, or broader energy sector is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills for analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Experience with Python or similar tools for automation, reporting, or data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or database querying.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and translate analysis into clear business insights.
  • Interest in or exposure to power markets, natural gas markets, or the energy industry; PJM and MISO knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and curiosity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and across teams.
