Schedule & Call

• Full-time position
• Rotating call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Shared call across APP team to support work-life balance

Position Overview

 

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) to support a high-performing, multi-site surgical team across Brookwood, Princeton, and Shelby hospitals. This role will directly support three cardiothoracic surgeons and work alongside a team of seven to eight Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

This is a dynamic role offering exposure to the full continuum of cardiothoracic surgical care- including first assist, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management.

 

Team & Environment

• Collaborative team of 3 Cardiothoracic Surgeons
• Established group of 7–8 APPs (NPs and PAs)
• Multi-site coverage model across three facilities

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Perform pre-operative evaluations and post-operative rounding
• Manage ICU and step-down patients in collaboration with surgeons
• Participate in call rotation (nights and weekends required)
• Coordinate care across multiple sites to ensure continuity and quality outcomes

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• PA-C certification required
• Active or eligible for Alabama licensure
• Cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred (new graduates with strong surgical rotations considered)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
