The Application Specialist will act as a trusted advisor to customers and internal sales teams, providing technical expertise, solution design, and product demonstrations / positioning for Waters chromatography columns and consumables. This role ensures customers understand the value of consumables before purchase, driving confidence and successful sales outcomes.
The Applications Chemist will do sample analysis across multiple types of applications (not limited to), Food & Environment, Chemical Materials, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences with a focus on Chemistry and Lab Automation (Consumables).
Responsibilities
- Partner with sales teams to understand customer requirements and pain points.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demos, and proof-of-concept trials for columns and consumables.
- Recommend the right chromatography columns and consumables based on application needs.
- Customize solutions to fit customer workflows, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
- Work closely with account managers to strategize and position consumables effectively.
- Support in preparing technical documentation, proposals, and competitive comparisons.
- Train internal sales teams on consumables applications and technical differentiators.
- Educate customers on best practices for consumable usage to maximize performance.
- Gather insights on competitor consumables and market trends.
- Provide feedback to product management for new consumable development.
Qualifications
Education:
- Masters Degree, or PhD in scientific area such as chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
Experience:
- 5+ years user experience with UPLC, Mass Spec and analytical instruments
Skills:
- Action oriented and eager to achieve results
- Sound communication and presentation skills
- Highly organized / well-prepared / time management skills
- Strong interactive skills and a good listener
- Matured disposition, positive attitude and strong sense of dedication
- Adaptive to a dynamic and ever-changing environment
- Strong technical background in analytical technologies, especially pharma analytical workflow / method development
