Overview

The Safety Coordinator is Kroll Konstruction's on-site safety professional on assigned projects. The role implements and maintains company safety standards and applicable client safety requirements in the field. The Safety Coordinator works directly with project teams, subcontractors, and third-party safety personnel to identify hazards, verify corrective actions, deliver training, maintain required documentation, and promote consistent safety practices. Working under the direction of the Safety Executive, the Safety Coordinator helps make sure Kroll's safety program is executed consistently from project to project while building a proactive, accountable safety culture.

Responsibilities

Project Safety & Field Compliance

• Implement and maintain Kroll's safety program and project-specific safety requirements on assigned jobsites.
• Conduct routine and formal jobsite site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Identify safety deficiencies, assign corrective actions, verify completion, and maintain documentation through closure.
• Monitor field activities and communicate unsafe conditions or behaviors requiring immediate correction.
• Exercise stop-work authority for a task, activity, or individual when conditions present an immediate safety concern, and coordinate corrective action with project leadership. Escalate conditions that may warrant a project-level stop or demobilization to the Safety Executive..
• Verify required PPE, site signage, emergency information, and other established safety controls are maintained throughout the project.

Subcontractor Safety Coordination

• Partner with project teams and subcontractors to integrate safety requirements into daily construction activities.
• Verify subcontractor safety plans and required Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) are submitted and available before applicable work begins.
• Confirm subcontractors identify appropriate representatives responsible for receiving safety communications and coordinating corrective actions.
• Verify subcontractors maintain required qualified or competent persons for applicable trade activities without assuming responsibility for the subcontractor's means and methods.
• Document safety performance, non-conformance, corrective actions, and recurring concerns involving subcontractors.
• Build productive relationships with field teams while maintaining clear and consistent accountability for safety expectations.

Client Safety Requirements

• Maintain working knowledge of client-specific safety standards that apply to assigned projects, and verify Kroll and subcontractor compliance with them.
• Prepare and maintain client-required safety submittals, qualification documentation, permits, orientations, and reporting.
• Review and action client-issued safety communications, alerts, and stand-down requests within required response times, and document completion.
• Serve as the day-to-day safety point of contact for client representatives and third-party quality assurance professionals on assigned projects.

Training & Onboarding

• Conduct and coordinate project safety orientations, Toolbox Talks, safety meetings, and other required training.
• Educate employees and subcontractors on hazard recognition, PPE, emergency procedures, company safety expectations, and safe work practices.
• Facilitate regular safety walks with project teams and subcontractors to proactively identify and address potential hazards.
• Reinforce lessons learned from incidents, near misses, and field observations through ongoing safety communication and training.
• Deliver OSHA 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach training for Kroll personnel, and maintain the records required of an authorized trainer.
• Maintain accurate training, orientation, attendance, and certification records.

Hazard Prevention & Incident Response

• Review project activities for potential hazards and verify appropriate safety planning is completed before high-risk work begins.
• Prepare, review, and maintain Site-Specific Safety Plans for assigned projects. Review subcontractor JHAs/JSAs and Daily Hazard Analyses for adequacy before applicable work begins.
• Respond to workplace incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses in coordination with project leadership and the Safety Executive.
• Participate in incident investigations, witness interviews, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action development.
• Track corrective actions and verify required follow-up is completed to reduce recurrence.
• Available for after-hours response to serious incidents on assigned projects.

Safety Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate project safety records, including inspections, findings, near misses, incident documentation, Toolbox Talks, orientations, and corrective actions.
• Maintain completed safety records in the company system of record, and use company construction and safety technology for project documentation and reporting..
• Maintain organized and timely safety records that support company, client, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Own the collection and reporting of leading and lagging safety indicators for assigned projects, including inspections, safety walks, findings, corrective-action closure, near misses, training completion, and incidents, on the cadence set by the Safety Executive.
• Provide the Safety Executive and project leadership with timely visibility into project safety conditions, trends, and significant concerns.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of standardized safety processes, forms, systems, and reporting across projects.
• Maintain OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping for assigned projects, including the OSHA 300 log and 300A summary, and support recordability determinations with the Safety Executive.
• Coordinate injury case documentation with Human Resources and the workers’ compensation carrier as directed.

Qualifications & Experience

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction required.
• OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) required.
• OSHA 500 (Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) required.
• First Aid, CPR and AED certification required.
• 5 years of demonstrated construction safety experience working directly with field personnel, preferably supporting commercial, e-commerce, industrial, data center, or other complex construction environments.
• Additional safety credentials such as CHST, STS-C, ASP, or CSP are preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA construction standards and applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, hazard assessments, JHAs/JSAs, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up.

• Strong organization and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple safety priorities.
• Proven experience using mobile technology and digital systems for inspections, documentation, reporting, and training records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with RedTeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SafetyCulture, or similar construction/safety platforms preferred.
• Ability to work independently in the field while remaining closely aligned with the Safety Executive and project leadership.

• Frequent walking and standing on active and inactive construction sites, including uneven terrain, gravel, and partially completed structures.
• Ability to climb ladders and access elevated or multi-level work areas as needed.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to inspect work areas, equipment, and site conditions.
• Regular use of hands and fine motor skills for tasks such as typing, operating mobile devices, and completing documentation.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and noise.
• Wear PPE for extended periods of time.
• Ability to travel by vehicle or air and extended periods of time in transit.
• Observe and assess site conditions, recognize hazards, and respond to visual and auditory signals.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record insurable under company policy. Frequent operation of a vehicle between job sites.

Important Details:

This role requires frequent travel to active and inactive job sites, typically 3–4 days per week when providing coverage across multiple projects. Where a project requires a dedicated project safety manager under contract or client standard, the Safety Coordinator is assigned full-time to that site for the duration of the requirement. More travel may be required based on project needs, incident response, or company safety initiatives. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct reports. Coordinates and verifies the work of subcontractor safety representatives on assigned projects, without supervisory authority over them.
