The Office of Student Life strives to model first-class customer service while assisting HPU students, faculty, staff, and parents with finding solutions to issues of any kind. As a graduate employee, you will gain experience in customer service, problem-solving and interpersonal communication.
Job Description
The Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Life provides first-class customer service to the HPU, maintain a comprehensive knowledge of High Point University and its extensive resources, and support the Manager and Coordinator, Student Life Operations roles. This position provides HPU students, faculty, staff, and families, with a positive HPU experience and connects them the appropriate resources/individuals to ensure a quick and effective solution is met.
Job Location/ Hours Required
- Ability to work weekdays, and some weekends/evenings (around class schedule).
- The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the Slane Student Center. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements and time of year; however, the maximum number of hours a graduate student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires a minimum of 18 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Experience and Training
- 1 year of customer service in professional setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft products
- Knowledge of HPU and understanding of the university’s culture
Responsibilities
- Delivers the HPU experience through face-to-face interactions, phone calls, emails while enhancing the opinion and advocacy of the university
- Recognizes sensitive internal information and exercises complete discretion when assisting in private matters
- Collaborates with members of the Student Life team to ensure a quick resolution to any issues or concerns
- Maintains and up-to-date knowledge of the university calendar, important deadlines, departmental communication campaigns, and university resources
- Executes multiple projects and job functions with efficiency
- Ability to communicate in a positive manner
- Ability to focus on details and prioritize tasks
- Works with a sense of urgency while maintaining composure.
- Other duties as assigned.
