Supervisor: Megan Inch
Starting Rate of Pay: $10.25
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.
Department Description
Student Accounts manages the billing and collections operations for the university. We coordinate with various offices across campus to channel charges and credits that comprise the tuition statement. Customer service is a key component of this position, in person and over the phone. Understanding various system applications and interpreting financial data accurately is essential. Quality verbal and written communications balance the messages of collection activity deadlines and consequences of non-payment.
Job Description
The Accounts Receivable Analyst will assist in many of the functional areas of the department. This position will give current High Point University students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in multiple areas of the student accounts career field, while also experiencing the daily environment of the Office of Student Accounts. This is an academic year position which can also include summer. Employees selected for this position will gain the knowledge and experience of valuable job skills that future employers seek. Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in Roberts Hall. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers in person and by phone. Assess customer needs and take steps to resolve or explain processes.
- Respond in a timely and professional manner to customer inquiries.
- Complete data entry, interpret data, and input data into Colleague systems as needed by departmental processes.
- Create and manipulate excel spreadsheets to analyze data.
- Maintain appropriate manual and electronic filing systems.
- Input material into Image Now scanning system and store as defined by departmental guidelines.
- Assist in the design and maintenance of brochures and website.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must have superior verbal and written communications skills, solid computer software experience with Word, Excel and WordPress.
Desired Skills:
- Must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA
- Patience to identify the problem when customer is stumped or frustrated.
- Attentive to customers, really listening to and for issues.
- Clear communication skills so that customers understand concepts.
- Time management skills.
