The Security Service Technician is responsible for independently performing service and maintenance of fire alarm and security systems, including fire alarm control panels, intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. Hands-on fire alarm installation, programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting experience is a key requirement for this position. This role is responsible for diagnosing system issues, completing repairs, programming and testing systems, and ensuring systems operate properly and meet customer requirements.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Independently install, program, commission, troubleshoot, service, repair, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems, including associated devices, control panels, notification appliances, initiating devices, and related system components.
Independently troubleshoot, service, repair, inspect, and maintain intrusion alarm, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
Perform programming, system modifications, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm control panels and associated equipment.
Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
Travel to job sites as required.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of experience servicing and installing fire alarm and security/low-voltage systems.
Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems is required.
Strong working knowledge of fire alarm control panels, field devices, system wiring, programming, testing, and commissioning procedures.
Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
Ability to independently troubleshoot and complete standard fire alarm and security service calls without direct supervision.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, wiring diagrams, system drawings, and fire alarm plans.
FAL and Texas security license required.
FEL-K preferred.
MSHA training preferred.
OSHA 30 preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
