The Role

The Director of Facilities leads the reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of MEC’s 50+ urgent care locations. This leader owns maintenance operations, preventive maintenance, vendors, compliance, and capital planning while building a high-performing team and scalable systems. Success requires a hands-on, data-driven operator who brings structure, accountability, and clear communication to a rapidly growing clinical environment. The role is based in Chicago, with significant time spent in the field at MEC clinics.

What You’ll Own

Multi-Site Operations and Building Systems

• Lead and scale facilities operations so every clinic is safe, compliant, well-maintained, and ready to support patient care.
• Establish consistent policies, service levels, site inspections, and preventive maintenance standards across the portfolio.
• Build preventive maintenance and lifecycle plans for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and critical building components to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Serve as the senior facilities escalation point; coordinate urgent response, emergency preparedness, and clear updates to clinic and executive leadership.

Systems Vendor Management and Team Accountability

• Manage centralized work-order intake, triage, dispatch, escalation, and verified resolution across all clinics.
• Implement and optimize CMMS, vendor portals, and budgeting tools to improve visibility, accountability, and decisions.
• Negotiate and manage vendor agreements, service levels, pricing, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
• Build, mentor, and manage the facilities team; use KPIs, scorecards, and performance management to hold staff and vendors accountable.
• Report responsiveness, work-order trends, vendor performance, budget adherence, and capital project progress.

Financial Discipline Compliance and Growth

• Own budgeting, forecasting, expense control, capital planning, and ongoing monitoring of facilities spend.
• Use financial and operational data to identify inefficiencies, savings, and investments that improve reliability and reduce long-term costs.
• Deliver repairs, renovations, build-outs, and site upgrades on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA, environmental regulations, and applicable healthcare and safety requirements; verify corrective actions through audits and inspections.
• Partner with operations, clinical leadership, compliance, finance, and executives on risk management, clinic readiness, and expansion.
• Drive continuous improvement, stay current on industry practices and technology, and perform additional duties supporting organizational growth and operational excellence.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of facilities management experience, including oversight of 20+ locations required; healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, preventive maintenance, building codes, ADA, OSHA, and healthcare-related compliance.
• Proven budgeting, cost control, financial analysis, vendor negotiation, and contract management skills.
• Hands-on CMMS expertise, including workflow setup and process optimization; effective project management across repairs, renovations, and site upgrades.
• Experience leading facilities teams and holding staff and vendors accountable for performance.
• Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and calm under pressure; communicates clearly and collaborates across clinical, operations, and executive teams.

• Clinics operate safely and consistently, with fewer repeat failures and avoidable disruptions.
• Work orders have clear ownership, timely response, and verified resolution visible to site leaders.
• Preventive maintenance, vendor standards, and team accountability improve reliability and service.
• Budgets and capital priorities reflect asset condition, risk, lifecycle costs, and growth needs.
• Scalable processes and strong cross-functional partnerships support new and existing clinics.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000–$130,000, plus bonus, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
