THE OPPORTUNITY
The Controller will provide strong financial leadership across Siksika Group of Companies and its subsidiaries, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end processes, audits, compliance, and financial controls. This role will ensure the organization has accurate, timely, and high-quality financial information to support sound business decisions and continued growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee accounting systems and financial processes for Siksika Group of Companies and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and management reports.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely completion.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Review invoices, cheques, and other business transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate financial records in both electronic and hard-copy formats.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management.
- Develop meaningful financial reporting to support business planning and decision-making.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the organization and its subsidiaries.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Coordinate year-end audits and act as a key liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare and oversee GST/HST, payroll, and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and CRA requirements.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls and identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior accounting staff as required.
- Drive improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Support the continued development and scaling of the organization's finance function.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure financial information and processes support operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with Controller-level capability strongly preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting.
- Experience coordinating audits and working with external auditors.
- Experience working with multiple entities or group company structures is preferred.
- Public practice experience is considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/financial software, including QuickBooks Online.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and high-quality financial files.
