Controller
Location: East Valley Phoenix, AZ
Schedule: 100% in-office | Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–4:30 PM | Most Fridays off
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 base salary + bonus eligibility

Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing organization. This position reports directly to the CFO and oversees three accounting team members responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience, Sage Intacct experience, and a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. CPA certification is not required.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports

Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules

Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions

Manage, mentor, and support three direct reports

Maintain financial dashboards and KPI reporting

Analyze financial trends, risks, opportunities, and business performance

Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight and support business decisions

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure financial data accuracy

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Coordinate audit preparation and financial documentation

Identify and implement accounting process improvements and best practices
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

5+ years of progressive accounting experience

2+ years of accounting leadership or management experience

Construction industry experience required

Sage Intacct experience required

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting

Experience overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll

Experience with month-end and year-end close

Strong Excel skills

Experience with financial dashboards and KPI reporting

Sage 300, UKG, and Power BI experience preferred

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
-
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

CPA is a plus but not required
Additional Details
This is a hands-on Controller opportunity with direct access to executive leadership and responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function. The position offers a four-day primary workweek, with Fridays generally off unless business needs require additional work.
Interview Process: Initial off-site interview followed by meetings with executive leadership and key team members.
