Overview

Waters Corporation is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our organization.

This role combines program maintenance, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration with teams around the world. It is well‑suited for a candidate interested in developing and implementing processes that support global trade efficiency and supply chain risk management.

The successful candidate will join the Global Trade Compliance team, which is responsible for coordinating worldwide import‑export compliance activities to ensure adherence to market access requirements. The team is committed to enhancing supply chain performance, mitigating risk, and supporting the needs of a growing global customer base.

 

Locations: Milford, MA and Newcastle, DE (U.S.), and Wexford, Ireland. 

This position follows a hybrid work model. Employees are required to work onsite three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Remote work arrangements will not be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Harmonized Tariff and ECCN product classifications; act as the liaison between the classification service provider and internal partners; manage database updates and conduct audits.
  • Determine country of origin following internal guidelines and provide training to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct export due diligence, including restricted‑party screening, business partner evaluations, and review of end‑use and end‑user statements.
  • Support to trade operations teams on customs inquiries and export declaration requirements and systems.
  • Assess product eligibility for free trade agreements.
  • Conduct periodic import and export self-assessments (audits) and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the U.S. Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program, including annual security profile updates, training, and revalidations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, including subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, customs brokers, and carriers, to ensure compliance with all applicable import and export regulations.

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Logistics, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of Trade/Logistics experience.
  • Strong understanding of international business practices, transportation laws, and customs requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP and GTS.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio). Comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Ability to identify and propose corrective actions to resolve import and export issues as they relate to internal systems, processes, customer, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Ability to work with cross functional (including procurement, finance, tax, marketing, logistics, order management and engineering) and cross-cultural teams located in different time zones.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to document procedures clearly and accurately.

Preferred:

  • Hands on experience with tariff classification, including GRIs, binding rulings.
  • Experience with other Government agency compliance.
  • Familiarity with Export screening of business partners against Restricted party lists.
  • Licensed Customs Broker.
