Process Safety Engineer – Chemical Manufacturing
Location: La Porte, Texas
Compensation: $115,000–$135,000 base salary, with potential flexibility up to $140,000 for an exceptional candidate

A well-established chemical manufacturing operation in the La Porte, Texas area is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to lead and strengthen Process Safety Management programs across its manufacturing operations.
This is a hands-on process safety position for an engineer with substantial experience working within a chemical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have direct experience with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and HAZOP methodologies.
This is not a general EHS or occupational safety position. Candidates should have direct experience evaluating and managing process and chemical hazards within an operating manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs
- Facilitate and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and HAZOP studies
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate process safety and chemical hazards
- Conduct process safety audits and develop corrective-action plans
- Lead or support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Develop and improve process safety procedures, standards, and management systems
- Provide technical guidance and training regarding PSM requirements and process safety fundamentals
- Support engineering projects by defining appropriate process safety requirements
- Apply relevant NFPA, API, and other recognized industry standards
- Support Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and other risk-reduction initiatives as applicable
- Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership to improve plant safety
- Evaluate opportunities to incorporate Inherently Safer Technology (IST)
- Perform or support chemical dispersion modeling when required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of process safety experience within chemical manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements
- Hands-on experience with PHA and HAZOP
- Experience investigating process-safety incidents and identifying root causes
- Understanding of chemical manufacturing operations and process hazards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to plant personnel and leadership
- Demonstrated career stability and a consistent employment history
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety functions

Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated base salary is $115,000–$135,000, with potential flexibility to approximately $140,000 for a highly qualified candidate. The position also offers full benefits and discretionary annual bonus potential.
Local candidates from the La Porte / Houston / Pasadena / Deer Park / Baytown area are strongly preferred. Relocation assistance may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
