Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Associate Director for First Generation Student Success- Boca Raton, FL


Our goal is to connect students to resources available at Florida Atlantic University that better support and assist in their development as a student beyond average expectations. We achieve this by guiding students through advising, career services, and other vital student accessibility.


Summary Of Responsibilities:

  • Management of selection, recruitment, and onboarding processes for scholarship programs, including the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars program.
  • Provide supervision and performance assessment of Coordinator positions.
  • Provide opportunities for professional staff training and development related to office processes and teambuilding.
  • Provide training for campus partners related to supporting first-generation students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Development and facilitation of the First-Generation SLS course curriculum and class instruction.
  • Meet regularly with program academic advisors/coaches to monitor student progress and create intervention strategies for first-generation students.
  • Work closely with the assessment team to continuously review, assess, and improve the program recruitment, onboarding, curriculum, and mentoring processes.
  • Develop a process that supports students in obtaining experiential learning experiences (i.e., study abroad, internships, job shadowing, undergraduate research, leadership positions, and on/off campus employment) that support academic and career readiness skills necessary for post-graduate programs and job placement.
  • Provide support and representation at Kelly/Strul events, including but not limited to recruitment, orientation, graduation, and donor-related events.
  • Organize training and workshops for faculty and campus partners that analyze national trends regarding first-generation student needs, engagement strategies, and academic support.
  • Ongoing review of assessment practices and KPI data collection for annual reports.
  • Developing and updating standard operating procedures for the first-generation student success office operations and program management.
  • Responsible for developing and executing strategies to maintain contact and engagement with first-generation alumni, including graduates from the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars program.
  • Create and implement initiative strategies to increase mentorship opportunities for first-generation students.
  • Serve as advisor to the Tri-Alpha First-Generation Honors Society Registered Student Organization.
  • Supervision of both Coordinator positions by conducting one-on-ones and performance evaluations.
  • Provide vision for Kelly/Strul Meetups and Mentoring Program that includes donor and campus partner engagement.
  • Collect data and assist with the end-of-year reporting for the division and Kelly/Strul Executive Board.
  • In the absence of the Director, represent the Office of First-Generation Student Success at orientation, How2FAU, Open Houses, etc.
  • Participate in institutional, divisional, and department-wide events as needed.
  • Stay current on research and best practices for encouraging first-generation student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience required.

Salary:

$58,000 - $62,000 Annually.
