About this role
Web Tech Solutions
The Web Tech Solutions team is responsible for providing a solid software technology platform serving more than 100 public-facing websites of our company under the blackrock.com and ishares.com domains. These websites provide comprehensive data about investment funds across a large universe of product pages, support high volumes of web content and document updates, and provide authentication for registered users globally.
Product Pages 3.0 is a major platform modernization effort focused on scaling a new product page experience across regions, with an immediate focus on UK and Germany delivery acceleration. The work requires strong engineering leadership across frontend and full stack delivery, CMS and configuration-driven product data flows, component development, release hardening, QA and accessibility validation, as well as business and compliance sign-off.
You will be:
- Leading a team of engineers hired to increase delivery capacity for project rollout.
- Owning technical execution across frontend and full stack workstreams, ensuring component delivery is aligned to a scalable platform model rather than isolated one-off solutions.
- Providing hands-on technical leadership in JavaScript, TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks, while being able to guide backend, API, configuration and integration discussions where needed.
- Driving project planning, execution, prioritization, and delivery in partnership with product, technical leadership, and business stakeholders.
- Translating business, design, regulatory and regional requirements into clear engineering work items that can move through implementation, code review, QA, validation and sign-off.
- Establishing clear delivery discipline across the engineering process, including release blockers, current release work, next release work, and modernization / technical debt items.
- Ensuring production and release blockers are triaged quickly, assigned to the right engineers, and resolved with adequate test evidence and stakeholder communication.
- Conducting code reviews, promoting shared engineering standards, and ensuring changes to shared components, services and configuration patterns are safe and maintainable.
- Facilitating effective communication within the team and with stakeholders, ensuring project goals, risks, blockers, scope changes and release readiness are clearly understood.
- Helping reduce coordination overhead by building a unified delivery model with clear ownership, meaningful ceremonies, and early escalation of risks.
What You'll Need:
- Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on experience in JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Experience leading software engineering teams in a global environment, including people management, mentoring, performance feedback, and career development.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve code quality, developer productivity, debugging, documentation, or delivery workflows.
- Strong React expertise with the ability to drive frontend architecture across a large, shared codebase.
- Full stack engineering experience, including API integration, service-oriented design, configuration-driven applications, and debugging across frontend, backend, data and environment layers.
- Enterprise experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Strong HTML, CSS, responsive UI, browser compatibility, and accessibility fundamentals.
- Experience delivering software in release-sensitive environments with QA, UAT, compliance, business validation, and production-readiness gates.
- Strong understanding of Git-based development, pull requests, code review, CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies and release management.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with software containerization platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Strong analytical skills and passion to understand existing systems before changing them.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with team leadership, stakeholder management, and delivery accountability.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, communication skills and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in building and passion for creating great products that solve complex problems.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Adobe Experience Manager, CMS-driven websites or other large-scale public web platforms.
- Experience with financial services, investment product data or regulated digital content delivery.
- Hands-on relational database / SQL and / or NoSQL database skills.
- Experience with Azure DevOps boards, structured defect triage, release blocker management and prioritization lanes.
- Experience with QA automation, regression testing, accessibility testing or production readiness evidence.
- Understanding of performance optimization, analytics tagging, SEO / LLM crawlability, and structured data / schema markup.
- Experience leading distributed teams across Product, Design, Engineering, QA, Operations, Legal/Compliance and business stakeholders.
- Experience onboarding and managing contingent worker capacity or vendor-supported engineering delivery.
