About the Role:
At Gladstone Institutes, our Facilities team plays a critical role in supporting groundbreaking scientific research by maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment for our researchers and staff.
As a Facilities Technician, you will support the day-to-day operations of our facilities while assisting with a variety of special projects. Responsibilities range from responding to maintenance requests and coordinating conference room logistics to supporting laboratory and office setups, equipment maintenance, and facility improvement projects.
Working primarily with the Senior Facilities Manager, you will operate with minimal supervision, independently managing routine assignments while collaborating closely with the broader Facilities team to ensure our campus operates smoothly.
What You Will Do:
Perform general facilities maintenance work orders and respond to service requests.
Assist with facility improvement projects, including laboratory and office setups, relocations, furniture moves, and equipment installations.
Support equipment maintenance and regularly monitor building systems to ensure proper operation.
Assist with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance activities related to facility operations.
Coordinate and collaborate with Lab Aides and other departments on institute-wide projects and daily operational needs.
Help manage conference room setups and logistical support as needed.
Provide emergency response support during regular business hours and after-hours when required.
Assist with special projects and other Facilities initiatives as assigned.
Perform additional duties as needed to support the Facilities team.
What You Will Need:
Experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, project coordination, or a related field is preferred.
Experience supporting laboratory, research, healthcare, or commercial facilities is a plus.
Basic knowledge of facilities management principles and building operations.
Understanding of equipment repair principles and preventative maintenance practices.
Basic understanding of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) practices.
Knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures.
Ability to perform basic equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong customer service mindset with the ability to respond professionally to employee requests.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to: Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, squat, and climb stairs and ladders.
Reach overhead and perform repetitive hand motions.
Push, pull, and lift equipment and supplies.
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
This position works in a combination of office, laboratory, and facilities environments.

*The Facilities Technician may occasionally be required to respond to after-hours emergencies or urgent facility issues.
Salary Range:
$25-$30/hr.
