Job Overview
Kemco Facilities Services is seeking a skilled and versatile General Field Service Technician to service the Starkville market and surrounding areas.
This is a multi-trade position ideal for an experienced technician who is comfortable handling a variety of commercial service calls. The successful candidate will have experience in plumbing, electrical, general construction, and commercial handyman repairs. Experience with laminate countertop installation and repair is a plus.
Our technicians work independently in the field, troubleshoot problems, communicate directly with customers, and complete repairs safely and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Repairs & Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general construction, and other facility components.
Multi-Trade Service: Complete a variety of commercial handyman and facility repair assignments.
Troubleshooting: Identify the cause of equipment, plumbing, electrical, and structural issues and develop effective repair solutions.
Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections to help prevent equipment and facility failures.
Customer Service: Communicate professionally with customers regarding service needs, repairs, recommendations, and job status.
Safety & Compliance: Follow company safety procedures and applicable industry standards while performing all work.
Documentation: Accurately document work performed, materials used, and job completion information and submit service reports promptly.
Inventory Management: Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, vehicle inventory, and commonly used repair materials.
Quality Control: Ensure repairs are completed correctly, professionally, and with minimal disruption to the customer's operations.
Training & Development: Continue developing technical knowledge across multiple trades and stay current with industry best practices.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in a skilled trade is preferred.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience in commercial maintenance, plumbing, electrical, general construction, facility services, or related trades.
Multi-Trade Ability: Candidates should be comfortable completing service work across multiple trades rather than specializing in only one area.
Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting ability and working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general construction.
Countertop Experience: Experience installing or repairing laminate countertops is preferred but not required.
Certifications: Relevant trade certifications are a plus.
Driver's License: Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
Background Screening: Must successfully complete a satisfactory background screening.

Ability to frequently lift and carry 50–75 pounds and lift heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical work for extended periods.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Ability to work safely around electrical systems, hot equipment, steam, and other commercial facility hazards while using appropriate PPE.
Willingness and ability to travel daily throughout the Starkville, Mississippi market and surrounding service area.
Flexibility to respond to varying customer and service needs.
