Position details
The Operations & Reporting, Vice President is a strategic leadership role responsible for advancing the Operations & Reporting function through innovative analytics, business intelligence, and reporting capabilities. This position partners with stakeholders across Analytics, Reporting, Audit, Technology, and Business teams to design and deliver scalable dashboards, predictive analytics, and data visualization solutions that enhance oversight, transparency, and decision-making. The Vice President will lead complex data initiatives, transform large and diverse datasets into actionable insights, and drive the adoption of modern BI tools and reporting frameworks. Success in this role requires a strong combination of analytical expertise, business acumen, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who can influence change, strengthen governance and reporting processes, and support the ongoing evolution of the function in a highly regulated global environment.
Management or Supervision:
No – Not a management position but individual contributor, however, the role will be supervising Associate Vice Presidents and / or Analysts on projects, as needed.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with clients to design and prototype data visualizations; produce and interpret data visualizations for a variety of projects; provide clients with detailed, actionable reports documenting the findings from data processing and data analysis; advise end-users on data manipulation, end-user support systems, and statistical analysis; facilitate and support the exploration of data and exploring its meaning and potential impact.
- Apply advanced data analytics, data mining, AI /machine learning methods to solve problems and develop predictive models; analyze results for multiple functions and communicate conclusions from complex models to a wide range of audiences.
- Develop and maintain consultative relationships with key business stakeholders, proactively identifying and addressing BI needs to meet business needs, along with regulatory and compliance requirements. Ensure that all actions demonstrate sound judgment and are consistent with MUFG's Ethics and Conduct Principles.
- Perform data preparation work (e.g., source, scrub, mine, and integrate relevant data sources) needed for the delivery of BI and data visualization solutions.
- Lead proof of concept projects to test and adopt emerging BI and/or advanced data visualization tools and own the delivery of BI reporting and dashboards from start to finish.
- Support the development of a change management process that facilitates the ability for business leaders to propose and debate new metrics or metric modifications per business needs.
- Support the development of a standard process for defining data requirements, managing governance, creating BI reports and dashboards for use throughout the organization.
- Lead and develop team members (coaching, feedback).
Job requirements:
Education, Licensure, Years of Experience (and type of work experience):
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field; or a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management with relevant data analytics/reporting experience.
- 10-12+ years of experience in operations & reporting / analytics, preferably within Financial Services, Internal Audit, or other risk and control functions.
- Professional certifications related to data analytics, data science and/or audit are preferred, such as Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, IBM Data Analyst Professional Certificate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Scientist Associate, Alteryx Designer Core Certification, CIA, CISA, CPA, or CFSA.
- Experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale business intelligence (BI), data visualization and analytics programs
- Experience in highly distributed complex business and technology environments
- Experience influencing non-technical aspects of technology change (e.g., business and operational architectures)
- Proven track record working with technical, customer, and functional teams.
Requirements:
- Ability to translate complex technical designs and terminologies into simplified business language
- Proven track record in Management Information Reporting and Operations preferred
- Experience with enterprise dashboard and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Workiva, QlikView, Oracle Business Intelligence, or Business Objects, etc.) with very large data sets
- Strong experience in wide range of analytics, BI, and big data technologies
- Experience in areas of Audit Issues Reporting, Audit Annual Planning preferred
- Strong experience in metadata process, data lineage, and traceability repositories and technologies
- Experience with leveraging AI capabilities is a plus
