Description
Our client is a boutique, licensed corporate and fiduciary services provider based in Valletta. The company specialises in Maltese corporate and tax planning, trusts & estate planning, financial services, shipping & aviation, Citizenship & Residence programmes, Yachting and comprehensive back-office support. They are currently seeking to recruit a Head of Finance to lead the finance team in Malta.
This position will play a key role in driving the financial strategy and operational efficiency of the firm. This is a senior leadership position ideal for a hands-on professional who can oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and support business growth in the corporate services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the finance team, including oversight of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Develop and implement robust financial strategies, policies, and controls to support the company’s growth objectives.
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements, management reports, and KPIs to senior leadership and the board.
- Ensure full compliance with Maltese regulatory requirements (including MFSA, tax authorities, and international standards such as IFRS/GAPSME).
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide strategic financial advice on business planning, investments, pricing, and cost optimisation.
- Oversee tax planning and optimisation in line with Maltese corporate tax frameworks.
- Support due diligence processes, mergers/acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
- Drive process improvements, digital transformation, and efficiency in financial operations.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent). A postgraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or an MBA is a strong advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Finance Director). Experience in corporate services, fiduciary, legal, or professional services firms is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Maltese financial regulations, tax legislation, and compliance requirements.
- Proven track record in financial leadership, team management, and strategic planning.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel/Google Sheets. Experience with Xero & Sage systems is an asset.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Italian and other languages is a plus.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
