The Engineering Manager role within Ciena Real Estate and Workplace Services (CREWS) provides technical leadership for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical infrastructure supporting Ciena’s Gurugram facilities. This role drives infrastructure reliability, facility improvement initiatives, and project execution through collaboration with internal stakeholders and service providers. Success in this position contributes to operational continuity, infrastructure performance, and global best-practice adoption.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead safe and reliable operation of critical electrical, mechanical, security, and building automation systems infrastructure.
  • Perform infrastructure studies, condition assessments, age assessments, and single-point-of-failure reviews to evaluate redundancy, reliability, and concurrent maintainability.
  • Develop, implement, and govern reliability best practices, standard processes, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee critical maintenance-window activities, including review of switching procedures, execution plans, and high-risk maintenance events.
  • Review quarterly mechanical and electrical load assessments and manage major site infrastructure projects through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop project estimates, conceptual designs, feasibility studies, strategic plans, budgets, forecasts, and business justifications.
  • Coordinate change management, metrics reporting, service provider activities, compliance requirements, and stakeholder communications across critical sites.

The must haves:

  • Education: Electrical Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Build relationships across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Apply analytical problem-solving and data-based decision-making to operational and business challenges.
  • Conduct financial, operational, and customer-related analysis.
  • Utilize organizational awareness and communication skills for preparation of presentations, written materials, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Operate effectively within ambiguous and fast-paced environments while managing multiple simultaneous priorities.
  • Demonstrate proactive planning, issue resolution, resource identification, and delivery across a broad range of responsibilities.

Nice to haves:
