Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer where you will play a vital role in designing, maintaining, and ensuring the operational readiness of complex systems critical to national security. This onsite position supports a 24/7 mission environment, requiring technical expertise, adaptability, and commitment to excellence.  Location: Aurora, CO (Buckley)

 

What You Will Do

• Lead and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for mission-critical systems and infrastructure, applying systems engineering principles to sustain availability, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Analyze system performance, identify degradation trends, and lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex hardware, software, and system-level anomalies.
• Develop and implement technical solutions and corrective actions to restore system capability, improve reliability, and reduce recurrence of equipment and system failures.
• Provide technical leadership during system anomalies, mission-impacting events, and environmental disruptions, coordinating troubleshooting efforts and supporting timely restoration of operational capability.
• Maintain system configuration integrity through engineering documentation, change control, baseline verification, and validation of hardware and software configurations.
• Evaluate system changes, maintenance activities, and operational impacts to ensure continued compliance with technical requirements, established procedures, and mission objectives.
• Develop, review, and improve maintenance procedures, technical documentation, troubleshooting processes, and engineering workflows based on operational experience and system performance data.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor for engineering and maintenance personnel, providing guidance on troubleshooting, system operation, maintenance practices, and technical decision-making.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, operations, maintenance, program leadership, customers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure system readiness throughout the operational lifecycle.
• Support integration, verification, validation, testing, and implementation of system modifications, upgrades, and engineering changes within an operational environment.
• Perform hands-on engineering and maintenance activities as required, including work on antenna systems, elevated structures, and mission equipment in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Support 24/7 mission operations through rotating shifts, anomaly response, emergency support, and on-call assignments while providing senior-level technical expertise during critical events.

Qualifications You Must Have

 

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience in performing maintenance, operations, or field service in complex technical environments (e.g., RF systems, satellite communications, large mechanical systems, industrial equipment, or similar).

• Experience with system integration, verification, validation, and supportability analysis.

• An active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

 

Qualifications We Prefer  

• Experience performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on national security mission system critical infrastructure.
• Experience monitoring system performance and responding to equipment anomalies, failures, and environmental impacts.
• Experience with maintaining configuration control and documenting equipment changes.
• Support rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Experience safely ascending and working at heights using ladders and elevated work platforms.
• Experience handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and performing physically intensive tasks in various environments.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
