Job Description:
The role involves operating workshop equipment, manufacturing and assembling prototype parts, 3D printing, machining, supporting mechanical experiments and field trials, and working closely with our Mechanical and Electronics R&D teams.
The ideal candidate is organized, practical, technically capable, and eager to learn and develop in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate workshop machines, tools, and equipment.
- Build, assemble, modify, and repair R&D prototypes.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers and produce prototype parts.
- Perform machining and fabrication of mechanical parts.
- Build mechanical models, fixtures, and test setups.
- Prepare and execute mechanical experiments and tests.
- Support the Workshop Manager in the day-to-day operation and organization of the workshop.
- Support Mechanical and Electronics Engineering teams with prototype builds, test setups, and testing activities.
- Prepare equipment, prototypes, tools, and materials for field trials.
- Participate in field experiments and testing activities as required.
- Manage workshop inventory, materials, tools, and spare parts.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
Qualifications
- Strong technical aptitude and hands-on mechanical skills.
- Experience working with workshop tools and machinery.
- Experience with prototype fabrication and assembly.
- Basic machining and mechanical fabrication capabilities.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and mechanical assemblies.
- Highly organized and methodical, with strong attention to detail.
- Practical problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong willingness to learn, develop new technical skills, and take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an R&D workshop or prototype development environment – an advantage.
- Experience supporting mechanical testing and field trials – an advantage.
