Summary:
Methode Electronics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support both the Accounts Receivable and Corporate Accounting functions. This internship offers hands-on experience in customer invoicing, cash application, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting within a global public company environment. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams, gain exposure to U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and assist with process improvements, financial analysis, and audit readiness initiatives. This role is ideal for students pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or corporate financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the generation, review, and distribution of customer invoices.
- Support cash application activities, including processing ACH, wire, and check payments.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and Finance teams to resolve account discrepancies and support customer account management.
- Review and reconcile outstanding debits, credits, and customer account balances.
- Support accounts payable processes, including invoice review, voucher processing, and freight invoice approvals.
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial analyses.
- Support intercompany accounting activities, including reconciliations, loan balances, dividends, and distributions.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules under the guidance of the accounting team.
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Utilize Excel, reporting tools, and AI-powered technologies to improve reporting accuracy, data analysis, and process efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
- Strong interest in accounting, financial reporting, corporate finance, or accounts receivable functions.
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and time management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and data analysis preferred.
- Experience using AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to support data analysis, reporting, research, and process improvement is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
