Summary:

Presbyterian Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant to join our team at the PMG Rust location. The Medical Assistant supports providers and the clinical care team by assisting with patient care, preparing patients for visits, coordinating clinic workflow, and completing clinical and administrative tasks that contribute to a positive patient experience.

This position may be filled as a Medical Assistant I or Medical Assistant II, depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated level of competency.

Responsibilities:

*Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
*Prepares patient for rooming and exam
*Prepares and administers medications and immunizations
*Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes
*Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
*Provides basic education to patients
*Sets up aseptic and sterile procedures
*Performs office-based procedures
*Performs basic foot care
*Assists with additional procedures as determined by provider
*Participates in the orientation of new hire MAs
*May perform regulatory audits
*Assists with visit closure
*Participates with care team to meet patient care and clinic needs.
*May perform scribe duties after completing PMG scribe training

Qualifications:

*High school diploma or equivalent required
*Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required
*Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire
*BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required
*Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS)
*Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe.
