Community Engagement Manager
Family Building Blocks serves children and families throughout Marion and Polk Counties and is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to join our team in Salem, Oregon.

- Starting at $55,328.00 - $58,697.48 annually
- Additional bilingual English/Spanish differential pay

Position Summary
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and direction of Community Engagement activities. This position ensures that the community engagement goals and mission of the Development Department are met through strategic outreach, relationship building, and community partnerships.
The Community Engagement Manager motivates and inspires staff, volunteers, Board members, donors, and community members to engage with and support the mission of Family Building Blocks. This role serves as a visible ambassador for FBB, building strong relationships throughout the community and cultivating volunteers, supporters, and community partners into long-term advocates and donors.
What You'll Do
Community Engagement & Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with businesses, community groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders
- Represent Family Building Blocks at community meetings, speaking engagements, presentations, and outreach events
- Serve as the lead contact for community drives including Diaper Drive and Hope for the Holidays
- Cultivate volunteers, supporters, and community contacts into long-term advocates and donors
- Coordinate community tours and presentations in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager
- Support the collection and stewardship of in-kind donations benefiting FBB families
Events & Volunteer Support
- Assist with recruitment of event Table Captains
- Support recruitment and coordination of Special Events Team volunteers
- Assist with annual events, including Riverfront Family Fest
- Collaborate with the Communications & Events Director and other staff on community engagement opportunities
Communications & Storytelling
- Partner with the Communications & Events Director to provide content for newsletters, social media, the website, and other organizational communications.
- Capture and share stories that demonstrate FBB's impact
- Create promotional materials and outreach resources
- Represent the organization professionally in all community interactions
Collaboration & Strategy
- Work closely with Development, Programs, Communications, and Volunteer teams
- Track outreach activities and community engagement outcomes
- Participate in strategic planning efforts that increase awareness, volunteer involvement, and donor engagement
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree preferred in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Community Development, or a related field
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
- Three to five years of experience in community engagement, nonprofit development, fundraising, volunteer management, public relations, marketing, or related fields
- Experience developing community partnerships and coordinating outreach initiatives
- Nonprofit experience preferred

- Passion for Family Building Blocks' mission and the families we serve
- Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills
- Strong public speaking and presentation abilities
- Experience cultivating volunteers, donors, and community support
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, donor databases and social media platforms
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Professional presence and ability to represent FBB positively in the community
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Current auto insurance
- Ability to become enrolled in Oregon's Central Background Registry (CBR)
- Ability to complete required child abuse reporting training within 30 days of hire
- Must meet all background screening and eligibility requirements applicable to the position
- Must fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with Oregon law and agency policy
Schedule & Travel
- Primarily weekday schedule
- Occasional evenings and weekends required for events and community activities
- Local travel throughout Marion, Polk, and surrounding counties for meetings, presentations, events, and outreach activities
